There are far better vampire and werewolf mods out already.

That said i'm not too bothered about Dawnguard. It was said it was going to be "expansion" sized yet it's only a few hours worth of content.

I'm not bothering with it.

I'll stick to making my own quest mods.

Since when do they have no plans to release it on PC or PS3? Last time I checked, it was to come out a month after it does on 360, you know, exactly what a timed exclusive is?
I want to say I hate to sound like an arse but i'd be lying so here goes.

Do you know what a month is?

26th June it was released on 360 and it's now 28th July and still no announcement on when it's being released on PC and PS3.

In fact Bathesda hasn't mentioned it at all leading to lots of speculation and a lot of annoyed people over various forums.

By timed exclusive, what Bathesda really meant to say was "we'll release it on 360 now and the rest when we can be arsed".

It's not really worth the money anyway. I loved skyrim itself, but through dawnguard it was mostly 'meh'. Luckily it's not that long :p I guess you can play it twice but I haven't bothered.

Or you could, you know, play a different game until Bethesda decides to get round to releasing it for PS3 or PC, if they ever do.

My option is also a lot less illegal too =D

Yeah that's copyright infringement. Besides, they tried to do that with Dead Money with new vegas, but they couldn't get the sound or texture files out. You basically had a bunch of bald naked dudes swimming around an empty world space.

I understand the frustration though. I'm pretty disappointed with Skyrim's modding scene. There are virtually no quest mods. There are a few contextless dungeon crawls, but those are basically just copypasted from the main game with harder enemies. There are no New Vegas Bounties, or The Institute, or Tears of the Fiend. Nothing of substance.

Ooh but you can mod your characters to look like barbies and then watch them fuck!

Sigh...
On both counts, be patient; the Skyrim modding scene is in its infancy, and it will take a while for something of that calibre to appear. As for Dawnguard it isn't as though Bethesda are never going to release it, that would be insane, they are just working out their plans. Awesome quest mods will come, Dawnguard will come. Play something else, there's an absolute embarrassment of riches out there.

The "Dawnguard Predicament?"

Is the predicament that you're too impatient to wait for the actual release? I've been waiting for Kingdom Hearts 3D, and Japan got that shit in March. Get over it. Because this is going to happen again [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/112609-Skyrim-DLC-Will-Be-Timed-360-Exclusive].

I think the 360 release is basically a public beta for the DLC, anyway.

The best way for Bethesda to avoid future problems like this is to make a few changes to their development model, and to stop reusing old code from other Elder Scrolls games (which I'm almost certain they do). If it takes you more than 30 days to port some DLC to another platform, then something is incredibly wrong with what you're doing. Contrary to popular belief, large, open-world RPGs do not necessarily have to be buggy, and only small bits of a game should require changing to get on another platform (like controls, etc).

The best solution for the Dawnguard predicament is to wait. Or not buy it, because it's DLC, and you should be avoiding it on general principle :p

My inner evil accountant tells me they are just trying to milk more xbox-exclusive sales by feigning ignorance, and forcing hardcore fans to perhaps even buy copies of the game for the console just to try it asap. By the time the sales trickle to a standstill is when they will release it on the others.

You already have hundreds of mods out there to keep you busy, waiting a little long for dawnguard won't kill you.

If Bethesda's willing to sue a guy for using the word "Scrolls" I'm pretty sure they'd have no problem suing you for actually stealing game files. It's a bad idea.

I seem to distinctly recall someone getting the xbox version to work on the PC.

How? The DLC files are more or less the same as the esm files used by the PC. Real buggy though.

My guess? They're biding for time so they can bug-fix the thing.

Speaking of Elder Scrolls DLC, why the hell does Shivering Isles still cost $30 off the PSN? A new copy of Oblivion GOTY is only $20. And just for fun, how can we spin this as EA's fault?

Well there is this

Is a Russian mod that?s still in development and was originally done the Havok physics engine (oblivion?s Engine) but the devs are now porting to TES V engine.

Fingers crossed this actually comes out
As a former dev of Andoran, I can say that it is going swimmingly as of the last time I talked to the rest of the team.

As much as I like getting Xbox exclusives before my PS3 and PC mates do, staggering out platform release dates is kinda stupid.

You know there's other games right? Like, a lot of them, most of which you havent played. A lot of them are admittedly crap, but some of them are fucking spectacular. Pick up one of them and have fun with it, rather than trying to get what you can't have. Its not worth the trouble. If it was worth the trouble, you would have bought a 360 just to play Dawnguard as soon as possible.

This is now a recommendations thread. The title is "help me pick a game to play until Dawnguard comes to PC". The post reflects this.

Im going to recommend The Witcher 2. I think that is getting DLC soon but to be honest I have no idea.

dont forget too that the steam workshop limits mods to 100mb.. thats it. and as others have pointed out you dont see the big quest mods for skyrim and you wont
They don't just have to stick to steam workshop though, I get most of my mods of the nexus. I don't know what their upper limit is (if they have one) but I've seen mods over 100mb big.

But yeah stealing files sounds like a bad idea. Either wait for it to come out or use one of the fantastic mods already available. For free I might add.
