I turned 23 today. And I must confess, it doesn't really seem like something worth celebrating. For all you young'uns, this may sound scary, but after you turn 21, no one cares that it's your birthday. no one is calling you up to make plans or buy you booze or bother to send you a tranny stripper. Should we even have birthdays after 21?

sounds like you have terrible friends.

I have a habit of not celebrating my birthday typically because I just don't think of it, but I always get birthday wishes. (not just from facebook, either, some people actually remember!)

But as a group we pretty much always go out and buy eachother drinks and have a good time on birthdays, and we're in our mid to late 20's.

I think you need to start the tradition back up. Call up your buddies, don't wait for them to call you.

I am in my mid-thirties now, and I actually frequently forget my age and my birthday. It is going to go down, down, down.

I think they're meh, and I'm only 15. Sure, I do get swag and get to see family, but I just don't see a huge point to it. I'm planing to ditch my birthday this year and go get my driver's license.

I actually stopped celebrating my birthday in my early teens. I have to get my drivers license to remember when it is.

I spend my birthdays quietly with my gf. Quite frankly, I don't think anyone gives a shit whether it's my birthday or not anyway. If I did have a party, I'd have to pay for everyone's drinks and meals, which I currently don't have the money for. Also it's kinda sad arranging a party for yourself, weddings included.

Suprise birthday parties on the otherhand, not so bad, someone other than yourself put in the effort to make a big deal about your birthday.

Eh? I'm turning 24 in May and we're all going to go to see Iron Man 2 and play laser tag with my mates, before I go home to get presents from my family.

Like most things, it's all about outlook, and my outlook says free stuff is awesome.

Hey, it's my birthday today too. And all I asked for was a low key, no stress, no mess day. Unfortunately this has turned the gushy wushy Hallmark-devotees in my family into frothing idiots who suddenly think I am depressed. Which no, I am not. I just am tired of tossing out pink teddy bears and assorted crap into the bin whenever there is a Hallmark-holiday-or-event - did my memo about Xbox Live Points being a perfectly viable and preferable alternative just get stuck under their mounds of fried dough with pink icing and gurbly little saccharine knick knacks? AUGH, I hate being a gamer girl in a family of prancing pony Ya-Ya Sisterhood of Traveling Pants Sex in the City foot-crippling-heel-loving wahoos.

23 is a prime number, that's pretty cool. But yeah, dependent on your friends birthdays after 21 are generally low key except for the milestones, 25, 30, 40, 42, 50 etc.

Fella, I are 28. And while I was indeed using poor grammar there for amusement, I am actually quite a smarty. Why is this important? Well, no reason...save this: Birthdays are the celebration of wisdom. A year older and a year wiser. The birthday is to celebrate how far you've gotten and how far you'll go. At least, that is an optimistic view of it. Frankly, I just like the merriment and all. People need an excuse to gather and goof off.

(Of course, when I'm 30, the people from Logan's Run are gonna come after me. Whoopsee!)

Totally this!
I'm turning 26 this August, and I'll be hanging out with friends, going to the movies, going Go Karting, and having a blast! I can't wait for birthdays! My Grandma-in-law sends me $50, I get gifts from my other in-laws and my family, and my wife let's me spend money when I normally can't!
Yeah, birthdays are sweet.

My buddy rides a 1400.
His bike is massive.

I quite like birthdays, I find they're good days for reflection.
