Post-21 Birthdays: So what?

You're lucky you had till 21. Here in Canada, legal age is 18. My last birthday party, I think, was last July, when I turned 18 myself. I feel that if I have a party or whatever now, it's just like asking for presents or money or something. I don't like that. If anything, I'll arrange something with all my friends to go to a pub/club/movie/restaurant/all of the above and spend more than usual.
But I do think surprise parties are awesome when you reach certain ages or even just randomly. We threw one for my dad when he turned 50. Made his day.

I don't celebrate my birthday, but I'll happily celebrate others. I'm doing paintball with a work friend in a few weeks, never done it before...kinda excited.

I dont personaly care for birthdays my folks with offer to drag me to dinner somewhere, relatives will call my friend with benefits drops by cant complain but organising stuff feels like too much of a hastle for a trivial thing, rather just enjoy the time off work.
Birthdays are an excuse to wear party hats. Party hats are awesome. Don't you be taking my party hat day from me! I'm only 32, I got lots of party hat days left, you hear. Lots of em.
Well then I suppose I should be glad that I have another 5 before they stop mattering.
It's a matter of who you're a friends with and if they are willing to spend the time to take you out and have some fun, but you have to be willing to call them up and make plans with them about it first.

People who stop caring about their birthday ought to consider the danger of becomming too "adult", yeah TOO adult. It may sound weird, but it's important to be at least a little childish just to enjoy life a little more, the birthday is one of those exuses to just having fun.
I tend to say that 21 is the last birthday before yor old so it's the last day you can act really stupid and blame it on your youth

They suck after 21. Basically lets you know you are that much closer to death with nothing else to really look forward to.
I think it depends more on the type of person rather than the age they've reached. Myself, I can't stand being the centre of attention. I fully realized this when my 21st came around, and my friends got completely wasted in celebration, even though I asked them specifically not to. Even though it was my birthday, I was the only one not enjoying myself that night. For my 22nd, I just went to a 7:00PM movie with a couple of close friends, and went to bed early - and actually ended up enjoying myself far more.
Contrast that with my one friend, who throws a party every year regardless of his age, and for that one day becomes the most selfish, self-centred person on the planet. He's been known to demand alcohol from people, or force everyone in the room to remove their pants, or other nonsense that would never fly if it weren't for the fact that it was his birthday.
So, in summary: screechy centre-of-attention types love them while introverted shut-ins hate them.

Birthdays are nice and all, but I'm not even 17 yet, and I don't get fussed about birthdays anymore, and it's not even about mortality; they're just too much damn trouble. Get me Chinese takeout, that's my birthday right there.
I celebrate every birthday and every friend's birthday with enthusiasm. Reason being, I've lost a lot of good people in my life far too young. You really don't know what's around the bend, so be happy you've made it to 23. I know some folks who haven't. Live life to the max, dude. No regrets.
Na, life was good when you could eat dirt, pick your nose, and then go play on the jungle gym. No stress or having to deal with pricks on a daily basis while wondering about all those payments and debts you owe. Life was great when I was 6.DustyDrB said:
