I don't care about my birthday.
I'm only 17 and the only birthday I care about is my 18th - when I can actually buy my own cigarettes and alchohol.

I stopped caring about my birthday after my 15th
I agree with this. It would nice to get drink outside of pubs and cigarettes and cigars and all. I mean I look old enough to get served in pubs but news agents in England have come under massive screwtany so ask for ID until your like 30. Looking forward to that sweet sweet 18th.
Hey, in the good ol' United States, you have to wait until you're 21 to drink, so don't take the three year head-start for granted!

You know what we can get here at 18? Drafted into the military. Fuck yes!
Wait, so you can fight and die for your country but your still not mature enough to drink?
Pretty much.

It makes for fun times.

I turned 22 in November and I used it as an opportunity to get all my uni friends together and have a big old meet up.

My friend group is quite close so we all celebrate each other's birthdays by getting together. Usually arrange to go to their house, drink too much and crash out then spend the next day feeling sorry for ourselves watching tv.

Of course it's worth celebrating! It's the day of your birth! It doesn't matter how old you are. I turned 22 a couple of weeks ago, I was working during the day but in the evening all my friends took me out for a few drinks and forbade me to pay for anything.

So, in summary: screechy centre-of-attention types love them while introverted shut-ins hate them.
I'd disagree there, I'm a total shut-in, but a birthday gives me a good reason to see some friends I haven't in a while, and just all hang out and do something fun. For my 21st (last week) I got japanese food with a small amount of friends, and maybe 2 beers with 2 of my friends and my girlfriend at my flat after. It was really, really fucking awesome.

Plus I got free stuff. Free stuff Rocks!

People tend to remember my brthday, since I'm born on a January 1st. Kinda hard to miss and forget. However, I've never had big birthday parties, even when I was a kid. It's just a nice day for me.

Eh? I'm turning 24 in May and we're all going to go to see Iron Man 2 and play laser tag with my mates, before I go home to get presents from my family.

Like most things, it's all about outlook, and my outlook says free stuff is awesome.
Totally this!
I'm turning 26 this August, and I'll be hanging out with friends, going to the movies, going Go Karting, and having a blast! I can't wait for birthdays! My Grandma-in-law sends me $50, I get gifts from my other in-laws and my family, and my wife let's me spend money when I normally can't!
Yeah, birthdays are sweet.
Aww! Go karting!? Damn your mates kick ass.

Yeah, it's not been a good day until someone half your age tells you you're being too immature. This goes double for birthdays.

At what age are you allowed to watch ultra porn?

I suppose that birthday would be the next checkpoint in the game of life.

Birthday's are alright. Usually spend them alone, but I might order pizza or something to mark the occasion. I live away from home and all relatives, so apart from a few phonecalls and SMS's (and not to mention the annual refreshment of my Facebook wall - birthday's are pretty much the only time something happens on my Facebook profile, apart from the occasional adding of a friend), and maybe even an email, there's not much to it. However, 18 is the legal age for beer/wine in Norway, 19 is the legal age for alcohol in general in Canada, 20 is the legal age for booze in Norway, and 21 is the legal age for drinking in the US, the last few birthdays have been pretty nice, seeing as I'm a half-and-half Canadian/Norwegian that frequently travels to the United States.

Usually no parties, but I might go to a pub/club (though technically I despise the latter) with a few friends.

My opinion Screw conserving cake and paper I'll do anything for an excuse for parties and presents!
Unless your head was screwed on wrong, everybody should find an excuse for that!

So just wait until your finals are over and have a joint celebration. End of finals and your a year older woot!

OT: I'm 16 and I enjoy my birthday, people give me free stuff, gives me a reason to have icecream cake in the freezer for a fucking week. People remembering the birthday validates my existence.

So yeah, happy birthday OP and your friends suck.

I don't really even celebrate my birthdays anymore - after you hit 25 there isn't much benefit derived from being older (25 is of course the magic number when auto insurance companies stop jacking up the rates for men).

You know you're officially an adult when you look forward to receiving socks as gifts, because you need some socks and hey, now you have some!
