They are jackrabbits so they're about the size of a beaver, though the .223 round is quite a small cartridge in comparison to other cartridges.Froobyx said:Rabbit hunting... With that? Just because a certain rifle is used by the military it doesn't mean it's the hardest hitting round around. But the .223 (5.56x45mm) round is agile and has a relatively flat trajectory. Also, we were shooting up to 300 yards so a .22 wouldn't have been able to reach out and touch the rabits at that range.
And, I was using a full metal jacket that day. I wanted the round to pierce through the rabbit saving the meat rather than exploding on impact like the .22 does.
