I only use post counts to see how familiar someone is to this board. Seem's friggin' ridiculous to do that kinda thing to a newbie, discriminating them because they lack posts.

When I first came here I wasn't subject of backlash, just treated weirdly.

The best way to become more involved here is by making a name for yourself. Such as me, being the goddamn Megaman nut here.

And secondly, and the really petty one, if you are the invoker of Godwin's Law. This again, is selective, if the thread is actually tangentially about nazis (See: Marines pose with Nazi ZZ flag) then I will play, but if someone tries to bring nazism where it doesn't belong, I'm out.
I have seen that thread a lot around here. It always seem to be on the first page. I honestly stopped posting in that thread a while ago. I kind of wish that it would die so we could have new threads. We need new threads, not the same old boring ones. Even if they are about Nazis.

Hello Escapist Community i am a little annoyed about the fact that to many people on here dont value your opinion if your post count is to low.
And i dont understand why. I myself dont respect people who dont even have a profile picture yet but it's come to a point where people either get high post counts or fade into the backround with the last topic they posted in beacuse they felt like nobody bothered with them.
...I don't think you're quite in the know, I've been here a while, with no posts in forum games or nonsense topics and no one on this forum has any idea who I am nor cares what I say.

...THIS IS A POSITIVE.

When people start to notice you, you have to start putting on airs or they will slowly chew at your sanity. Don't seek forum popularity. Seriously.

Meh. People are stupid. So if someone is so stupid that they think post count or sign up date matters, well then, as previously mentioned they are stupid
I just wish we had the option of not seeing that crap. The same as we have the option to disable avatars and buttons.

Not usually, unless there is really a reason to suspect someone has no idea what they are saying because they just joined.

I have never been looked down uppon by others for my relatively low post count... look how long I've been a member, look at my post count... I don't say much, but oddly enough when I do people seem to notice what I say, and I tend to get quoted a fair deal, is it because I have a sweet classic 8-bit slime avatar? or is it my name? probably not, it's because when I do say things, I say things that other people can see and either agree with or disagree with.

I try to add to a discussion in a meaningful way, I don't just say "yeah what that guy said" or whatever, no I'll take it to a new level or direct the conversation in a way that opens up other areas of the same topic for discussion, maybe open a few people's eyes to something in a different way.

But hey, that's just me, so do whatever you think is best for you, but if you act an idiot or make a lot of baseless assumptions, people may point it out, and it may offend you.

People don't respect my opinion here and my post count is huge, nor am I well know because of it. And I instantly look at anyway who uses post count as a way to value anyones opinions as a **** who isn't worth anyone's time.

Besides, it's the internet, not many people are gonna value your opinion anyway. :p
This post was full of grammar fail and might still be, but I'm ill so meh.
Where is your dr Cox avy!!!

Anyway, OT: says the person with 59 posts.

post counts dont mean anything. I've met people with high posts counts and the majority were garbage, and i've met people with low ones that didnt post a lot cause they didnt think they had much that was worthwhile to add or say. the only thing they matter for is your "title" of sorts above your avy and thats if you dont make your own

I personally don't view a lack of an avatar as a way of saying "Their opinion doesn't matter", nor lack of large post count. Heck, I'd be a hypocrite just to judge people on both, considering I have neither.

The problem is that there are just too many people here. It's great for a thread creator but not for a poster. Your voice just gets lost in the horde.

It's due to an inherent assumption that anyone new to the site has little idea of what they're talking about, which is wrong.

True story. Also you should meet @Redlin5

Anyway, as in the world of Poke'mon, your true worth is decided by the prestige of your displayed badges =D. Anyone who immediately dismisses your argument due to your low post count is a retard if your argument is valid. If the argument itself is invalid/inexplicable/etc, then no amount of posts will save you. Like the guy last week who got suspended for posting his furry love thread. Although I think in his case he had priors against him.

Trust me, people with higher post counts can get equally flamed for saying 'stupid' things. I am proof of that ; )

People with low post counts can get many page threads if they have something worth saying.

If you have a low post count, and say something 'stupid', you might get ignored or named troll, but that's just how the www works.

EDIT: I just saw a guy (post 3) with over 60k posts? WWWHHHAAAA?!?!?!

While I think that number is fucking crazy... I think that his post here is good because I agree with it, it makes sense to me. Same would go if his post count was at 10. But I do admit I was a tad taken back at his post count... especially since I don't recall ever seeing him post!

Say something worth notice, and you'll get noticed.

To be honest, I (and likely most of the other people around here) am more likely to tell someone off for saying something stupid if they have a high post count/early join date than if they're clearly new. The mods are harsher on older members too, for that matter.

[sub][sub][sub][sub][sub]Besides, whoever said it was join date that mattered was right. Anyone who can last more than a year or two is practically an ancient around here, despite the fact that the forums have been around since, what, 2004? The moderations system is set up so older members are more likely to get banned than newer ones.[/sub][/sub][/sub][/sub][/sub]

the only post count I follow is my own. I tend to look at joined date over that anyway. Ironically I lurked for a year before joining so I don't know why I pay attention to that anyway.

I have not found this to be true at all. I was never dismissed due to my post count back when I first started. You're also assuming a lot on behalf of people with low post counts.
Yep, I'm with this guy (or girl).

On my previous account which I made about 4 years ago,(and before you ask, no, I am not ban jumping. Have no idea what the password or email is for it is when I accidentally logged out one day) low posts counts did tend to get you singled out. Funnily enough, as the older Escapees have left, the community has become a great deal more mature.

I haven't seen one person being singled out for having a low post count in a while. Definitely haven't seen any since I made this account a few months back.

The one thing I accuse myself of is thinking people who don't have avatar's sort of throw me off. Because I'm an elitist prick like that.

How the...? Oh, I see. Cool.

OT: No, nobody here really cares about post count. I look at it to see just how many posts they have. I've never though, "Oh, low post count, ignore/think of as stupid". I've seen jerks here with far more posts than me, and I just ignore them.

I've never seen this problem on the Escapist, could you provide the links to where you saw this problem?

I dunno....I mean look at The Cool Kid. He's got a (relatively) low post count and doesn't even have an avatar but people notice his posts.

Granted a lot of the time those posts are noticed for the wrong reasons...

*double take*

Waaaaait a minute . . . THAT'S YOUR THREAD!!

You should be happy, every time I make a thread it drops like a stone.
YAY! You win the contest! But seriously I do wish people would stop posting. It is just people arguing about things now. Not even with me, just with over posters. I already got the 10,000 view badge and not many new people are seeing it. It is just the same guys who are arguing about flags and nazis.

Also on this subject, to the OP, look at me! I only have 97 posts and I already have a 10,000 view thread! If people ignored what lower post people said then I wouldn't have that popular of a thread. When I posted that I had about 50ish posts.

Oh...Oooh.

Well, aside from the occasional banters here and there, I haven't seen nor experienced any kind of bias based upon my post count or another users post count.

As the illustrious Escapists have already told, Post count does not matter.

Thank you and have a wonderful day.

Or night.
