How do you as a gamer deal with the end of a game, especially ones that take up a lot of time and captivate your attention, become part of your daily routine. RPG's seem to be the main culprit of this.

I always get a massive empty feeling and can't concentrate on something new for a while. Especially if it was a game I looked forward to long before release.

I get this, I find the best cure is to just go right back the beginning and play it all over again until I stop feeling sad! :)

If it was an extremely good game I start it again

Or I play another game in the series

Legend of Zelda is a good example here

Mass Effect 2. Definitely. I didn't even want to go through the Omega-4 relay, because it would mean that the game will end soon. That game had become a part of my life. Second playthrough just isn't the same.
When the credits rolled, I felt epic, triumphant, but also sad.

i remember the ending of KH1 and i was incredibly satisfied.
nothing like i have ever felt before in a game.

i could go on about how awesome everything was is KH but i've been loving KH way more than healthy lately.

If its open ended, i walk about the world, relishing slightly in the pure essence of what lays around me, then about 3 hours later snapping out of my trance like fascination and either starting a new game or finishing up everything i can (Sidemissions, etc)

I got this massively when I played HL2 and then Ep 1 and 2 through all together. It had taken up my life for a few days and I think I'd forgotten how to do anything else -_-
Team Fortress 2 saved my life!

I feel satisfied to have ended the story, then immidiatly start to ponder how it could otherwise have turned out.

Maybe replay it or find another game, perhaps in the same series if it is part of one.
I was this way with some of the Final Fantasy games? Did you just finish one?

I really do prefer open ended games, or at least games with good replayability. It feels like such a waste of time otherwise (yes I'm aware of the irony).
Yeah, but after you've become the unquestionable king of the world, what next?

I strongly believe this may be the reason I don't beat video games very often..

If I even get close to the ending, I will put the game down so really I don't have to deal with the post-game depression.

Even if Red Dead Redemption is starting to wear at my soul.

Red dead redemption was the only game that i actually felt sad and sorta angry when i finished. For one its a great game and two, the ending is epic.

Thats just me though
