Groovy Pants, you can't silence a Barrett .50. It uses a muzzle brake to reduce recoil. Take that away and it's liable to break your shoulder after one shot.

I don't know much, but I know my guns.
A Barrett .50 uses an attachment at the end of its barrel called a muzzle brake. This attachment redirects the gas produced by the shot off to the sides, reducing recoil.
The RT-20, which I'm using, takes it a step further by funnelling the gasses back in the direction of the shooter, counteracting the recoil.
No muzzlebrake and both of those guns are liable to tear your arm off.

Warsaw, Poland, 2015. A young woman is walking through the rubble, occasionally digging through it to look for items to loot. So far, she's come up short. She's tired, hungry. But she needs to find others. Her information is useless if she's the only one that knows it. She pulls a jacket with combat fatigues around her, the blood of the soldier who last wore it still visible. She goes into what was once a pub, but is now merely shelter.

Sharpe sat quietly, polishing his rifle. It was already bright enough to blind a passer-by, but he needed something to do.
The 6'3" sniper looked up as he heard the girl walk in. Pretty thing. Couldn't match his old wife, but there was no use thinking about her at this point.
"Why're ya here?" he grunted.

The burly man leaned forward.
"Ain't nothin' much to do here but talk, so what's yer name and what's yer story?"

"Funny name for a girl. Anyways, I can fight, if that's what you need, but since I'm runnin' out o' ammo, I may need to charge ya. I'll see if I can get some o' my boys to help you."
He picked up a small radio and spoke into it.
"Ted, get over here, and bring Tony and Michaels."
"Tony's dead, sir. Some crazy doomsday cultist or summit blew himself up right next to him," came the reply.
Sharpe would have given the radio a 20mm adjustment, but he couldn't waste any more rounds.
"Michaels?"
"He was close to the blast. Lost an arm. I'm takin' care of him."
"Shit...stay there and make sure he doesn't die."
"Understood."
He sighed.
"Well, just me, then."
