So the new controller has been revealed.
I know ideas are popping into my head.

Basics.
1. Inventory-touch screen inventory would be awesome
2. Hud info- pure game play on screen
3. Mini games-lockpick, whatnot

Advanced
1. Sports play calling/creating
2. Aliens motiontracker
3. Unlimited hotkeys- rpgs best played on pc can be easily transferred to consoles without reliance on radial menus. I think this is a very big deal.
4. RTS control. Using stylus or finger control rts movements
5. Fps command functions.-Think COD missile strikes. Use controller screen to aim predators in real time without leaving vision. Be awesome in multiplayer. Also use as map and give orders also in real time
6. Immersion- In an rpg you pick up a book and the screen becomes the book.

So there are off the top of my head.

P.S. please be flame free. If you think the controller looks stupid, you don?t care or are fanboyed against it, just leave the thread. Thank you.

Multi-tasking. E-books on the small screen, or game guides, or whatever, while playing a game on the TV. Netflix on one, Zelda on the other. I do that with the two TVs in my room, but thats pretty energy heavy. But make one of those for a rechargeable battery? Instant savings.

These are great ideas! If used properly I am sure the WiiU can actually innovate console gaming. The only thing that concerns me is the design of the controller, looks a little awkward to use.

Being able to drag and drop hud information back and forth between the tv screen and the mote would be hot sauce. You let me decide where I want the hud elements and extra information!

Using it for 'call' type situations with NPCs would be hot. Imagine a MGS game where you get a a call and take it on the 'mote. If they added voice commands to that -- omg, heaven for me.

2 player. One person gets the tv, and the 'sidekick' gets the controller. Useful for recon (controlling, say, Navi in Zelda to go scout out what's around that corner? Or pick up stuff? Literally keep a look out behind your partner so they don't get snuck up on? Yes please)

The navi/hint system would be great on it.

Try this.

Youre player is locked in a room, baddies come in waves. On your controller you have to solve a simple puzzle. Rotate these rings type puzzle. But all the time you have to solve it is inbetween waves of enemies. So you have to do the puzzle when you can. Or selecting the right key from a keyring, all under pressure.

I want 3rd party games to only use it for stuff like inventory screen, map screen, or other small details (the radar in Colonial Marines, for example).

If 3rd party devs start stuffing gimmicks into the thing, that'll put me off.

I really like the idea of it being the motion tracker (mini-map as well perhaps?) in Aliens, something like ensures I'll keep an eye out for more info on the console as it comes out.

Otherwise I can see it showing the feed of a surveillance drone in flight over a facility that you might be trying to enter/escape, or possibly in the case of Ghost Recon maybe this could be the screen showing the personal drone that the Ghost's have access to.

I understand your concern. Like dont make me swip the screen at every door to open it. But I want all minigames to use it. Like fallout. Put the lockpick on the controller, dont make me use anolog sticks for crap like that.

So I halfway agree with you, as long as its not pointless waggle controls just to have them I am good with it.
