small nano bots that remain directly below that skin that have the power to stop even the most powerful gun fire and explosives and any damage done to the skin activates the litle robots regeneration mode that heals all cuts and scuffs. not sure if it actually counts as power armour but thats my 2 cents to add to this thread
More to bio-tech but not a bad idea.Though, anything so rapid would destroy your immune system if I am not mistaken.

I find power armor to be silly for the most part. My friends tend to overemphasize them.

I have an idea for a suit that's not so much armor, but just mechanical muscles that allow the person to carry a very large gun.

Picture the marine from Starcraft, but remove the helmet and the torso armor, and just have the legs/arms. basically to hold a gigantic 6 shooter revolver (something that we might put on a tank in the real world). I'm designing the suit to go on a character in a "40k inspired space western" Tabletop game that's in the pipes in my gaming group.

Well, power armor isn't really feasible in any conceivable near future as it's used in games, I.E as a frontline weapon. Too many problems with it, not enough mobility and cannot actually offer enough protection to make up for the cons yet, to name a few. And considering we have rifles that can pierce tank armor, I'm not exactly sure we will ever have enough protection. It could see use as a battlefield maintenance and equipment moving thing, though.

But if we're going just for style, then yeah, I've got ideas. I really like the less refined and polished stuff. Maybe some cannibalization from other things. Something that was built for function from whatever was available, not to look pretty. Maybe with a big, bulky, spheric body, kind of like a walking tank. The form would enchance protection against pressure (mostly from a lot of weight falling on the armor, I guess) and allow for many layers of protection. And some sort of jetpacks. Because jetpacks are awesome.
Setting-wise, it could maybe be a repurposed mining/rescue armor that got converted with weapons and whatnot to serve as a temporary violence-maker. Or violence-queller maybe.

Also, on the general subject of power armors and robots and such, Keith Thompson has some great designs.

My power armour is not full armour, only about half armour.
The overall colour scheme is white, blue and orange (I have liked this colour combo lately).
I would be wearing a spandex of some sort with metal chest armour covering my upper chest. I will also be wearing metal gauntlets (there are energy blaster, light sabre and an energy shield on it) and wearing metal boots. I will also wear a small jetpack attach to the back of the chest armour.
Lately on the chest is a small circle orange led?s which can be use as a chest cannon.

Power armour! 3+ saves! I would never make someone else have to suffer this!
?I really don't catch your meaning
I was referring to the tabletop game of Warhammer 40k where some units have 'Power Armour' which means they wont die if they roll higher than a 3, and thats after all the hard work of rolling to hit them, would them and then they save it 66% of the time. Not fair for guys who are armed with a flashlight and wear a flak vest. (5+ save, although most weapons punch straight through it)

I disappoint at lack of Starship Troopers in this thread. I bet I could describe the M.I. suits word to word without anyone noticing...
Get me a scout suit that can scratch between my shoulder blades.

Hmm, how about a power armor with a fully functional jetpack? Mine would have one. It would also bypass the whole bulky carryall weapons and integrate them into hands, sort of like Spiderman web shooters, so I still have hands and fingers for grabbing. Also I would make it modifiable, so suit can be adapted for scout, average or heavy duty functions. Then the helmet - it would be a masterpiece. I would integrate every damn thing into that. Not HUD, no, although it would have HUD, but several screens (1 main + 3 additional smaller screens; what screen displays would be changeable, naturally), like in jet fighter, so I can monitor surroundings, suit status, map, any auxiliary functions (more on that later), weapon status, fully integrated 360° view (one side on each screen), etc. Naturally, night vision and infrared vision modes, as well as HUD compass and zoom. Then I would create several auxiliary systems that could be interchanged. Let's see, how about a scout drone I could launch off my right hand and control it remotely, allowing me eye-in-the-sky capabilities? Then a medpack, shield, land mines, explosive pack, whatever.
Weapons would also vary, with 2 integrated into each arm. I was thinking along the lines of standard lasers, machine gun, railgun, grenade launcher, RPG,...
Of course, fully integrated radar, with passive radar ability for enhanced stealth capabilities and enhanced camo suit (especially in scout variant)

Now, if this all sound familiar, then +n oldey game tokens for you because you obviously played Terra Nova: Strike Force Centauri. For younglings who haven't played it, try to get your hands on it if you don't think graphics are all that counts because it will blow your mind.

I have a feeling that you think I'm talking about the movie. I meant the book, give it a look.

Because the book I was talking about was released in 1959 >.>

I know, I read the book. I was just commenting on how many awesome power armors there are that not a lot of people know about, with a bonus old game rant :)

I'd totally just steal a set of Grey Knight armor from the Imperium of Man. Then I'd be win and victory.
