"The new Power Rangers movie will commence filming this winter in Vancouver, according to Directors Guild of Canada-BC Production List (via yvrshoots).

The film is scheduled to begin filming January 18th and wrap April 12th. Its working title is "Shirt."

The film is being directed by Dean Israelite (Project Almanac), based on a screenplay written by Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz (X:Men: First Class, Fringe).

Rumor has it, the new movie will feature original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers characters (completely re-envisioned) ? Jason, Zack, Kimberly, Billy and Trini ? battling the evil sorceress Rita Repulsa and her loyal minions.

Power Rangers is scheduled for release on January 13, 2017."

I'm interested in what the film will be like. Hopefully it won't be like the Bay Transformer movies (though I did like the first).

No offense, but you're not really supposed to just copy and paste a link's text without making it clear they wrote it.

On-topic, can you imagine the casting ads? "We need teenagers with attitude! And a Screen-Actor's Guild membership, plus previous movie experience!"

I don't know, the original cast didn't have "previous movie experience". In fact I think season 8 was the first one with a cast of people who had previous acting experience.

I'm cautiously optimistic about this film.
Why? To me it looks like a cynical cash grab in the form of a reboot for a 90s tv series which is still ongoing. I mean, how the hell do you reboot a series that's STILL ON THE AIR!? I'm placing my assumptions on "it's going to be monkey ass garbage" unless the release says otherwise. Can't be disappointed if my expectations are so low it having a coherent script is enough to reach them.

I'm sure they will find the best 35-year-olds money can buy.

In all seriousness, it ain't really Power Rangers unless it is spliced together from 2 or 3 completely different programs.

I'm going to wait for reviews from fans to see if this is will even be any good. That way I will know whether to go see it or not. I won't be surprised if it bombs and is hated by Power Rangers fans.

If you're talking about text from another site, then using quotation marks is all you need. Like this:

"The new Power Rangers movie will commence filming this winter in Vancouver, according to Directors Guild of Canada-BC Production List (via yvrshoots).

The film is scheduled to begin filming January 18th and wrap April 12th. Its working title is "Shirt."

The film is being directed by Dean Israelite (Project Almanac), based on a screenplay written by Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz (X:Men: First Class, Fringe).

Rumor has it, the new movie will feature original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers characters (completely re-envisioned) - Jason, Zack, Kimberly, Billy and Trini - battling the evil sorceress Rita Repulsa and her loyal minions.

Power Rangers is scheduled for release on January 13, 2017."

Of course, you'll have to add some sort of comment yourself.

Prepare for all the "They're going to ruin my childhood!" complaints in 3..2..
I never liked the series, might have been too old at the time, but it was practically a checklist of things that annoyed me at the time. However I am cautiously optimistic that this would ruin my brothers' childhood. >;)

I remember recording all of these on VHS as a kid and loving them all but watching it as an adult, WOWZERS!

It just looks so cheap, it makes WWE look like UFC. I would watch them again if they put some effort in, I'd love to watch the green ranger turn into white ranger and all that stuff but watching these bad fight scenes and obvious rubber suits. I'd prefer them to green screen that shit and get a decent fight choreographer!

There is a guy called Larnell Stovall who did the fight scenes in "undisputed 3" and they are so acrobatic, I think it would be great to have that in a power rangers.

"It's morphin time!"

Yeah, had to be said. Personally, cautiously optimistic.

I still find it a bit weird that they are making this movie. The original MMPR show is old enough to drink alcohol. Seems odd to make it into a movie, now. Besides, we had a cheesy movie back when the show was running.

Anyway, I want to at least see the trailer, but I probably won't go see the movie, unless someone drags me along. I do wonder if it will be better or worse than the original movie. And how they will do the "armor" and Zords.

Odds are it'll be hated by Power Rangers fans no matter what.

I feel the compulsive need to post this video here:

OT: I think it is a bit sad that they need to rely on the old Mighty Morphin' franchise in order to make money. I thought that there was a new team of Power Rangers and that they were pirates or something. Can't they have made a film about them instead?

They're going for the MMPR season because that's the one most non-fans are familiar with. Most people outside the PR fandom don't even know there were seasons after MMPR.

They might adapt later season for sequels though.

I suppose that makes sense, it just struck me as a little odd that they wouldn't push the newer series, mind you I think they make a lot of the past seasons in the current one from what I have heard.

I'm expecting this to be a grim and dark take of the franchise as I doubt they can keep it the way it is without getting alot of people to watched it.

I mean take a look at the Sentai series especially the legacy war. That was over the top awesomeness which the US series can never really capture.

Accoridng to the people behind the film, it will maintain a "mature yet playful" tone
