What about the alien and predator movies? Weren't aliens, predator and aliens vs predator all comic books to start with? Or am I mistaken?

I suppose they arent as much 'superhero' movies as just plain comic book ones...

AFAIK, Aliens were actually based on a number of influences, Dan O Bannon cites his earliest influence as some of the old sci-fi from the 50's. It's look was very much Geigeresque, who'd been doing weird baby/slime art for sometime.
Predator came from the movie, but AVP was done by Dark Horse, so was comic books.

Originally they were just the incidental monsters, but like Jason and Freddy, they grew.

Heh, like I said, it may have just been me at the time. It's one of those polarising films. I loathed Starship Troopers so much that I was audibly cheering the aliens on.
Wait, what? People think Starship Troopers is good? The hell. That thing was a mess.

O'course, I'm still finding it difficult to believe that people are creaming their pants over Batman Begins. The "grit" and "realism" were as cheap and generic as Daredevil. Spiderman and X-men were fairly shoddy, too. Maybe I just don't "get" superhero flicks.

Although, speaking of Daredevil, as horrible as the movie was, you've got to give them props for actually having the balls to kill the love interest. Most of the time, they pretend to kill her, and then are all "LOL PSYCH" ten seconds later.
No, in this case they were all "LOL PSYCH" one terrible movie later.

To be honest I liked the superman films. Don't have a clue why but I will always have a spot in my heart for the guy. But yes it is really silly that kryptonite is about as annoying as a buzzing fly to him. To really get some kind of sympathy you need to have him encounter someone who can actually best him in what he does i.e. kick the living snot out of people.

The death of superman storyline would be good film to do if they did it properly along with the accompanying 'return' storyline. But then, oh god they would have to have a lot of the very weird characters that were around at the time that after this time i still cannot see the point of. Guardian? Blue beetle? the only time i felt sympathy for those guys is when DC killed them off.

Wow! I saw Ironman yesterday and it was amazing.

Did you know: Marvel has given up on handing their rights out and have made their own studio. Ironman was the first true Marvel movie. This means they can mix and match who ever the hell they want together like in the comics. That's why Deadpool's in the Wolverine movie and Ironman's in the new Hulk. I guess it happened because they were sick of people making their own ways. Since Daredevil owns Kingpin, the Punisher and Spiderman (big on Kingpin) can't use him.

This happened at the end of Ironman after the credits. If you walked out during the credits... go back and watch the damn movie again! You will be suprised and shocked.

SAM JACKSON PLAYS NICK FURY!!

Superman is basicly the Achillies of comics/movies. An all powerful god with one weakness that's kind of stupid when you think about it. Xmen are just weird mutants with even weirder superpowers. How, even if you buy the whole "humans can evolve and mutate" crap, could anyone mutate the ability to make fire or ice or any of their weird abilites? Maybe mind reading or moving really fast but that's about it. Spider-man is cool. His alter ego Peter Parker is truly sympathetic and sometimes funny. I liked the comic book version better though where Peter is so smart, he invents the web shooters and webs instead of it oozing out of him like a huge zit in his wrists, but whatever. Movie makers seem to have a need for "updating" and changing the characters they make movies of for no really good reason. I love Batman. He's my favorite hero. His fighting abilities and fearlessness combined with wit and smarts make him the best. I like most of the the aspects of Batman Begins, especially FINALLY seeing a new villian on the screen with Scarecrow. What's up with having the Joker again in The Dark Knight? I don't know if the dearly departed Heath Ledger who couldn't act his way out of a bag in the other movies I've seen him in can do as good a job as Jack Nicholson. If they simply had to do the Joker again, why didn't they get Mark Hamil to do it? His voicing of the Joker on Bruce Tim's Batman series (which deserves a movie in theaters more than some of the other superhero stories do) was spot on.

I also don't like the way that modern movies try to make all the super heroes morally questionable and the way they think they have to include some or several butt kicking, smart mouthed, girl-power spouting women in every action movie now. If you are going to make a movie about a classic super hero like Batman, why cant you show them the way their creators made them to start with? I'd love to see a Batman movie set in the 30's and based on one of the early stories from the Detective Comics series. If you want a modern day hero with all the politically correct, modern day sensibilites the movie makers seem to want to force on classic heroes, then make up a new hero of your own. Don't screw up the classics of the past.

So you'll accept telepathy, but the ability to agitate particles to cause fire is out?

Has it occurred to you that movies cost a lot of money to make, money that the studio has to recoup getting people in to watch the movie? Warner Brothers took a big risk with Batman Begins by not including one of the famous villains, it could have gone completely tits up and they could have lost millions.

I agree with you about updating characters though. How dare they update a character for the modern age! I agree that I'd rather see Superman slapping japs like he did in the forties.

Batman:TAS did get a movie btw, it was called Mask of the Phantasm and Mark Hamil is pushing sixty now, so that might be why he's going to play the joker in the next Batman movie.
