For me it's a three horse race between Mass Effect 3, LA Noire and Arkham City however I feel like there could a dark horse from something like Alice, some of the Japanese stuff especially the Kinect stuff if it works, or possibly even Forza 4 could come and take the crown.

You want us to predict game of the year, when its only march, and we're only a third of the way through the cycle, and not even in the big game selling season...

I say Pokemon Black/White (which ever sells more by the end of the year, unless by then they come out with the third game, which I'm predicting will be called clear or gray).

Giving Oblivion Game of the Year is saying that showstopper bugs, and... well... ugh, this [http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Leveling] are the best that the universal set of game designers could put out in a twelve month period. That either informs me that 2007 was a terrible year for game mechanics, or the reviewer in question has his head up his arse. Given this is the year Burning Crusade, BioShock, and Assassin's Creed came out....
skyrim and oblivion are going to be very different, like how morrowind and oblivion were different
Yes, but nothing has been shown to indicate a sudden interest in basic quality control, a problem which has plagued them since they started making games. I'll believe Bethesda has learned the spell $Fundamental Quality Control* when they actually can produce a game with fundamental quality control.

I'll still buy, and play, and even enjoy Skyrim. But Bethesda has yet to release a game that deserves to win 'Best in Show' Bethesda games are the games you love despite their glaring fundamental problems. However, if and only if they learn how to address fundamental problems before the game discs get pressed, then can you entertain any sort of talk of them even being on the short list for GOTY. GOTY is for the BEST game, not the best intentions.

*and if you understand what I did there, you'll remember that Elder Scrolls didn't start at 3.

I definitely think Skyrim holds the place for GOTY. Although, I do concede that there are some very promising games coming out this year.

From Eidos Montreal, we have Deus Ex: Human Revolution. The dev seems to have a handle on this franchise, but a lot of fans are predicting consoleitus, and I frankly have doubts about the ability of Kane & Lynch's creators to deliver a GOTY-quality product. This will surely get decent scores, but is unlikely for GOTY.
Wot?

Eidos Montreal =/= IO Interactive. What the hell gave you that impression?

GOTY will probably be LA Noire. Rockstar never goes home without awards. Other nominees include Mass Effect 3, which has decent chances, Uncharted 3, maybe but probably not, Skyrim, don't know enough about how the game will actually play and feel to judge it this early (which is awesome, I hate knowing EXACTLY what to expect whenever I start a game) but I still think it has decent chances, the new COD, they always win at least a few, and a big MAYBE to Portal 2 and The Last Guardian.

I'd say, it will be Portal 2. It looks like it has anything that Portal 1 had just better.
