Predict this years "game of the year"

I'm rooting for The Witcher 2 or Deus Ex Human Revolution.

Can't forget Battlefield 3 guys! We have BF3, ME3, Portal 2 and Skyrim in the running for goty in my opinion.

The way things are going right now, it looks like Shogun 2 or Dead Space 2. I'd personally go for Shogun 2.

Other than that Skyrim has some real potential...if its good.
I wouldn't put my hopes up on Brink or Witcher 2.
Something tells me Battlefield 3 will be too generic to be considered game of the year.
OH! Arkham City as well, that has some real potential.

I might get crucified this, but I have my hopes on Crysis 2. If I can play a demo for 20 hours the game has something going for it, and I get sick of games quickly. I only said Crysis 2 because I personally think the single player will be awesome but I don't know.

I honestly think its too early in the year to go out and predict what the game of the year will be, as its only the third month, but if I had to make a prediction, I guess it would be something like Portal 2 or anything else along those lines

Award-wise there's just too much coming out this year to make a meaningful prediction at this point.

Hell, even my personal GOTY has yet to be decided, there's so many of them that can take the crown; Skyrim, Batman: AC, Deus Ex, Mass Effect 3, maybe even Portal 2 or something. Dammit! My head's going to explode!

Either way, the real winners are the consumers. This has to be one of the best years for games since... Well ever...

Agreed. There's such a humongous amount of high-quality titles coming out this year it's almost too much. And this is also the year I want to go back to college...talk about awful timing.

Skyrim or Portal 2.

I'm waiting for the flamewars that will erupt saying either Skyrim or Mass Effect 3. And then the Church of Freeman will come in saying they're both wrong for not picking Portal 2. Then one guy is gonna say Skyward Sword, and the other three, along with the rest of the Escapist, will join forces making fun of him.

In all seriousness: This looks like a good year. Skyward Sword, Skyrim, ME3, LA Noir, Duke Nukem Forever, Arkham City, Portal 2, Guild Wars 2, Battlefeild 3. Something for everyone this year.

Its a shame really that LA Noir is the only thing on the lists so far that isn't a sequel, and even then (from what i've seen) it could still end up borrowing heavily from GTA (ok there's no shame in that.) Still, Skyrim is what excites me the most.

i think it will be a tossup between Mass Effect 3 and Portal 2

dunno much about LA Noire, but it seems like it would be a good candidate too

If the new Deus Ex comes out then most definitely that.

I can't see it being Portal 2.

If Portal 2 wants to be notable it's going to have to seriously out-do its predecessor.
More of the same will be enjoyable but not noteworthy.

There's a few serious takers for that title, provided they'll be as good as they promise. There's Skyrim. There's Arkham City. And there's Deus Ex 3. Dragon Age 2 was nice, but not really game of the year material.
Oh, and there's Portal 2. So it's a four-way scrap unless something comes out of the blue.

Hell, it'd be awesome if they gave it to Magicka. Too bad it's not going to happen.
