preemptory thread before next week's inevitable "why are girls depicted as they are in gaming."

Sorry mate but Eggo is right.

Edit: And you've just added to it. Let's be mature here. This post wasn't designed to stop those threads, this is the internet, I'm sure you've been on it long enough to understand that isn't the way it works. It's just a new topic about an old topic that uses the fact it's an old topic as a starting point. If anything this is just going to piss the girls off more.

seriously, ignore this, if you guys take it as whining I seriously don't want another thread like this clogging the front page.

eh alright, say what you want, but if that's the case shouldn't all of you not be replying to the other girl gamer threads? wouldn't that just make you whining at them, following your logic that is.

see I thought I was protesting their flooding of the forums while also posting some ideas as per why. But since you guys call it throwing a tantrum well...

well anything I say will further be seen as whining since I disagree with you so, eh no comment hence forth. Sorry for stating the opinion in such a way that made it seem like whining.
Nah mate. I learned fast.

I'm whining with them.

I believe thats called being an "internet white knight"
Or it's called 'giving a shit' I dunno. Have a read of some of my topics. I both ***** about the girl gamer's lowly position in the gaming food chain and then make fun of them for complaining about it. Getting angry (about either side) doesn't do anyone any good.

Another thread about this? Already? Come on, give us a break... the other thread is still going, this one has been started, there was another new thread started recently that had to do with girl gamers (or their opinions, does it really matter which?)

Give us a break, all the guys here at Escapist Forums will always support the "girl gamers need more attention" threads because it looks good for the ladies (and some of them might actually believe it themselves). But come on, we've had one of these (if not 5) every week for the past few months.

Can we please, give it a breast.. I mean break... for a month or so? Please????

*yawn* The origin of gaming was in the realm of the 'technical' and thus thought not a feasible area for feminine culture to thrive. *yaaaaawn* This process will eventually resolve itself when wither the 'technical' is broken down as a useless label or girls realise that gaming is now outside of the realm of 'technical' *yaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwwn*

So, very tired of girl threads. Instead of bitching and moaning about inequality, let's here on the escapist break down the roles and labels of 'gender' by not even making it an issue.

EDIT- Hey cool, I'm GONZO now.

You youngins don't remember what it was before sex in gaming... ugh, it used to be that you couldn't go two threads before something about religion popped up.

Why do people seems to like to rehash old ideas? Pretty much every point needed to be made on this topic have already been made, discussed in detail, put to rest, and rotting 6-feet under already. Young people these days, always asking questions they know the answers to...

If you'll excuse me, some kids are on my lawn...

Edit: Congrats Hey Joe on Going Gonzo.

I can't help but wonder how long it took before women in cinema weren't portrayed solely as helpless eye-candy or other 2D stereotypes. I'd be willing to bet it took longer than gaming's been around.
