360 controller wins. The d-pad is shite, but otherwise it's a decent quality, good-size and nicely designed controller.
PS3 controller is a bag of shit. Flimsy, poorly designed, badly-placed analogue sticks, piss-poor buttons and ridiculous L2/R2.
Still, when my Razer Onza arrives, the regular 360 controller can retire.

Controller preference is all about what you're used to. The people that swear the 360 controller is better played it for a year straight without any other option, so of course they grew used to it to the point that the ps3 controller seemed off...and for some reason people try to pretend their hands are huge.
No, seeing as I've had both consoles since release, and as with most people, had the previous Playstations, I've likely used the PS controller more. It's design is against all ergonomics. It forces you to stretch your thumbs and index fingers apart from each other, and that's just the analogue sticks, which don't even have depressions.
Plus, the build quality of PlayStation controllers for the PS2 and PS3 is AWFUL. It's brittle, thin plastic. Ugh.
The 360, SNES and GameCube controllers rate highest in my books. Each have their flaws (360=D-Pad, SNES=Flat, GameCube=Engraved letters shredding thumbs), but the PS controllers are even worse.
