we went over this in a old thread months ago, and i do believe you were either put on probation or stopped responding, especially with the amount of replies i think you were getting over it, and i'm about to head off to work, so i am not going to sit here and pointlessly argue with you over it, like i had said in my original post.

and just to point out, the majority of people have been saying the 360 controller, im not saying the ps3 controller is bad, especially considering i used to game solely on the ps2 growing up.

Look at every controller that isn't a 360 controller. Each one uses symmetrical analog sticks. Nintendo tried with the GameCube, they went back with the Classic Controllers. The OnLive Microconsole was initially planned with staggered sticks, but they changed the design for the final release. For years, despite the DreamCast and Xbox controllers having the higher left analog stick, any PC gamepad always made use of the DualShock design. The 360 controller is the odd one out here, and the people who like it are also people who like playing FPS games with a gamepad, which is just silly.

PS3. I prefer the symmetry. If the 360 controller had the stick where the 4 face buttons are I would probably... still prefer the PS3. I don't like the control sticks on the 360 (how they dip in) that and the PS3 is perfect for my long fingers.

My personal preference is PS3 controller, I prefer the symmetry of the analog sticks.

On a PC though a 360 is easier to set up, but (as I have done) you can get a free driver for PS3 controllers to trick the 360 controller driver into thinking it is one, if you are interested it is called MotionInJoy. Although it helps to know the 360 button layouts for the prompts on screen if you do use this method.

Disclaimer: I am not advertising MotionInJoy, I am just a user and making a recommendation from personal experience with it.
Same here, I also use MotionInJoy to setup my PS3 controller with my PC since it just feels better in my hands then the 360 controller ever has. Plus I prefer the way the buttons/analog sticks/d-pad feel on the PS3 controller. Plus the symmetry, as you mentioned, is definitely a plus for me.

I seem to be an odd one out here having small hands, so the PS3 controller is absolutely perfect for me. Aside from the xbox 360 controller feeling bulky, I dislike the fact it doesn't have symmetry when it comes to the analog sticks.

Of course I grew up with the ps2, so I was always use to that style of controller. Damn bias opinions :(

If you can why not go to a mate's house and see if you can test out their controllers to find out which one you prefer? I don't know which pc games support what, but with the proper drivers I'm sure you'd have no problem using a ps3 controller for pc games if the xbox controller isn't your thing.

Edit: I constantly seem to be typing xbobx... Maybe I like symmetry a tad too much....

I tried with the PS3 controller, I really did. It just hurt my hands so very much. 360 all the way for me.

I'm 6'7" my hands are almost large enough to palm a basketball, i can't use a ps3 controller very easily. When i hang out with a buddy who has one i always wonder why they made them so small.

I prefer the xbox controller, mostly because I find the ps3's too lose. Others prefer it for that reason. It's all a matter of what you've gotten used to, but if you're coming straight off keyboard keys I'd recommend the xbox.

360 controller all the way.
+ It's bigger and more comfortable than the PS3 controller
+ The analog sticks aren't as spongy and are more responsive. I also like how they are offset.
+ Left and Right trigger - nuff said.

- The d-pad is way too flaky compared to the PS3 one

360

pros
- Slightly better sticks due to indents holding your thumbs
- Better stick placement
- Grips make the whole thing fit snugly into your hands
- FAR SUPERIOR TRIGGERS!!!

cons
- ABSOLUTE HORSESHIT D-PAD!!!!111!!eleventyone

I'm having a hard time believing anyone can seriously recommend the PS3 controller. In fact, I'm actually looking for a 360 type controller for the PS3 (The Cross Battle Adapter apparently doesn't allow the triggers to be analog, and if you're playing say, GT5, analog throttle and braking are required. And no, the right analog stick doesn't cut the mustard because you can't apply the brake and the throttle simultaneously).

Actually, I'd recommend The Duke even more if you could get it, but then again, I prefer six string basses.

Regardless, I don't believe that you take your gaming seriously enough to buy a controller for those games where the mouse and keyboard isn't sufficient, but not quite seriously enough to go out an test the damn things. Shame on you for starting a console war.

I am I the only one that thinks that the XBOX 360 controller is fucking huge? Don't get me wrong it is way better then the original XBOX controller, but my god it is large and unyielding.

I like the PS3 controller better, it is more manageable.

Disclaimer: I have freakishly stubby finger so my experiences my be atypical.

360 controller wins. The d-pad is shite, but otherwise it's a decent quality, good-size and nicely designed controller.

PS3 controller is a bag of shit. Flimsy, poorly designed, badly-placed analogue sticks, piss-poor buttons and ridiculous L2/R2.

Still, when my Razer Onza arrives, the regular 360 controller can retire.

Controller preference is all about what you're used to. The people that swear the 360 controller is better played it for a year straight without any other option, so of course they grew used to it to the point that the ps3 controller seemed off...and for some reason people try to pretend their hands are huge.
No, seeing as I've had both consoles since release, and as with most people, had the previous Playstations, I've likely used the PS controller more. It's design is against all ergonomics. It forces you to stretch your thumbs and index fingers apart from each other, and that's just the analogue sticks, which don't even have depressions.

Plus, the build quality of PlayStation controllers for the PS2 and PS3 is AWFUL. It's brittle, thin plastic. Ugh.

The 360, SNES and GameCube controllers rate highest in my books. Each have their flaws (360=D-Pad, SNES=Flat, GameCube=Engraved letters shredding thumbs), but the PS controllers are even worse.

My hands fit perfectly around a PS3 controller. Xbox controllers feel awkward to me. I own a PS3 and a PS2 so I'm just use to

The 360 controller wins for me - but I greatly prefer my PS3 at the moment. I found an article on the Escapist that mentioned a third party controller from Power A for the PS3 that almost perfectly mimicked a 360 controller - so I headed out to my local EB, found one and now I use it exclusively.
Damnit man, don't hold back on us. What's it called? Got a link? What are your thoughts on it?
I need this!

Found it, anyway, how is it? How are the triggers? How are the analog sticks?

I loved the PS1 and PS2 controller. I thought there would never be another controller for me. Then the 360 came out and I got one. And it fit so easily I had little adjustment getting used to it. Then the PS3 came out and I got one and it isn't the same as a PS2 controller at all. The R2/L2 triggers feel soft and squishy. The controller it way to light and feels fragile. The only pro is the D-pad. 360 gets my vote
