I'm reasonably sure that I'm not the only one here who's ever used a fake name, for site registration, surveys, and back in the day, to lie about my age, etc.

Personally I usually use Maxwell Edison, taken from the Beatles song, because I can remember and I think it sounds pretty good, as a matter of fact I think that's what I'm registered here as. Recently though, I've decided to start using a new one whenever I have to register.... Jesus Jones, Blaxsploitation Hero.

So anyway, I was wondering if any of you guys have a preferred fake name, or if you use one at all, and why you might have used them in the past.

I use a few character names from some stories I'm developing. There's only 3 people in the USA with the name Frank Alera, and they're all in Massachusetts, or so says Google.

I also use alternate spellings of my first name with random words.

...Yay.

Occasionally I've used my 'Spanish' name, something we did in one of my classes, to learn about how Spanish naming conventions work... 'Lupe Jesús Gabriella Juárez Gaona'. (Nothing says 'religious family' like giving a girl the middle name Jesus.)

I used Luke Matthews when I snuck into another elementary school dance when I went to a different school (I was so badass /end sarcasm).

Haven't had much chance to use it beyond a couple more times at bars though.

If I can't be bothered to make up a name on the spot (please don't ask me to rattle them off; I can't remember most of them and if I could the list would probably exceed the max post size), I'll generally pike one from an old TV show or similar source.

Off the top of my head, I've gotten away with Jim McNulty, Steve Franklin and Dennis Chin. Not sure how, with hindsight.

David Levi, the most common name here.
I'm serious, the only way to make it more recognizable is replacing Levi with 'Cohen'.It's the most generic easy to remember name. It differs when I enter other communities, especially when I rwant to sound foreign I use 'Dylan' or 'Jack' with a jewish last name, so that you'd know my parents are hipsters.

I've often gone by Bruce McNeal for the hell of it.

In fact, there are people who I graduated high school with that didn't know my name was not Bruce until graduation. That was fun.

I prefer Dr. Fitzgerald Harding for all my interesting quotes and information. He's a professor at the University of Arizona, and spends his liesure time playing badminton.
