I don't usually use fake names online. As for role playing pseudonyms, I prefer names starting with the letter "M" (Matthew, Marcus, Marten, Münchausen), (somewhat) obvious music references (Les Paul, Strad, Mr. Holly) and lastly names ending in "-fred" (Winfred, Sigfred).
