Wow, this must be rarer than non-identical twins.

I always thought it was impossible to have two siblings with less than nine months age difference. I probably should have guessed that it was at least possible, although technically it shouldn't be.
Are you kidding? Identical twins are less likely than non identical ones. It's just that most twins on TV are identical so people assume differently
You may be right, but I've yet to meet a pair of non-identical twins. I think (non-denticals are a little harder to pick). At least I went to school with a pair of identical twins, so this is based on personal experience, not TV.

What an amazing breakthrough in baby-making technology.
Scientists, get to work!
This woman could be the source for that infinite army I want so much!
I expect to hear the popping sound of tiny soldiers coming out of her very soon.

My question when I read this was "Whatever happened to patient-doctor confidentiality?"

So we might assume she has given permission for this story to be told (be it for money, fame, stupidity, medical science, etc).

So.... how many really weird/interesting medical stories DON'T we hear about? Surely a very large number of people aren't keen on having their family 'story' turned into a media freakshow you would hope...
As long as the names are left out, doctors can often assert that an event of a certain type has happened. They're allowed to release statistics like "We delivered 300 babies this year," so maybe they just release a statement with a very narrow statsitic. "We removed one greased up keyring from a man's trachea this year, even though it's only February!"

Well, this proves to be...interesting. Didn't think it would be possible.

Speaking as a woman, this is one more reason why I don't ever want kids. Gah! Now something else to scar my dreams...

It's uncommon, but not unheard of. We talked about it in 10th grade biology class, and that was 5 years ago.

Good for her then i guess? Why wont she give birth to them both at the same time?
I would GUESS that there will be some form of complication, and teh boy will have to be born a few weeks prematurely when the girl is due, but the due dates are from conception (I believe), so two pregnancies, a few weeks apart, would have two seperate due dates :)
No, I believe they just c-section them out at the same time.

But at least the son will be able to kill Macbeth.
