Well, Skyrim is on the way and most of us here have seen the simply orgasmic trailer that was released. We saw a bit of magic, some throat stabbing, some dragon stabbing and some freaky shouting powers. Needless to say, every class has become more badass since Oblivion, whether your game is Stealth or Mysticism.

So, do you have a plan of what your first character is going to be?

Vaton Solac
Imperial

Class: Custom "Mercenary"

Stealth

Agility
Strength

Acrobatics
Alchemy
Blade
Illusion
Light Armor
Marksman
Sneak

Vaton's paranoid, cynical, and absolutely dangerous. His sharp wit keeps people at a distance, and earns him more than enough bar-room-brawls to keep him happy. But just because he's a bit of a punk, doesn't mean he doesn't have some sense of decency, Vaton believes in a fair fight and even odds. I DON'T recommend getting on his bad side.

I'll go with my pedigree for RPG characters: blazing speed and agility, using bows and daggers. I doubt I'll even touch magic my first playthrough (unless I'm forced to). I'll probably be a Redgaurd.

Melvin Jr.

He is the long-lost son of the legendary Argonian Melvin, my first character in Oblivion, and shares many of Melvin Sr.'s abilities (and disabilities, per se). Melvin Sr.'s story is as such:
A burn victim (except with magic and such), he was horribly disfigured by his fiery accident and fire both scares and fascinates him.
Also a master of illusion, he is an expert at tricking people into thinking he's a handsome, devilish play-Argonian, at least for long enough for his roguish ways to procure him cheese wheels for his ever-growing collection.

What destiny awaits Melvin Jr? Will he become the champion he was always meant to be, or will he too be replaced by a mage character doing the mage's guild quests?

In the last games, I normally went for a redguard custom-class, but I've discovered steath-gaming since then, so it might be time to change the kinds of characters I build.

I guarantee that a Mysticism class has not gotten more badass. As Mysticism no longer exists. All previous spells belonging to Mysticism have been dispersed through the other schools. Or been removed.

OT: I've really liked a lot of the changes I've seen regarding marksman, namely that the power is going to be vastly improved, while arrow supplies are going to be short. I'll probably be some sort of scout, with good marksman skills, some decent blade skills, wearing light armor. Relying on speed and agility, and the occasional potion. If I get around to it, I might dabble in some Illusion, but not likely.

I think I said before in another thread like this one...
Was gonna role a Nord/Breton.
But I'm coming around to the idea of a Snow Khajiit Berserker. Duel wielding axes. All points into Strength, Constitution and Dexterity.

Normally I like to role the smooth talking jack of all trades type...
...INBEFORESPOONYBARD!

But yeah, I think a raging, crazy, chaotic evil kitty might be fun.

I meant mysticism as a general term for "magic".

They're taking out attributes. And acrobatics for that matter. You only have half a year to figure out a relacement skill. Time's ticking!!!

Well, first time through I'll do a Nord with the biggest beard possible, and the largest axe I can get my hands on. That's right, brute force my way through it!

Second time around I'll make a sneaky stealth person and specialize in dual daggers, with a few essential assassin spells like Detect Life, and spells to unlock doors.

I feel like a major nerd right now pointing out that:
There are no classes.

They removed the class system because they noticed how stupid it is to expect players to make choices that will influence their next 200 hours of gameplay in the first thirty minutes.

Nord warrior who can mix up a mean potion or lockpick your door open to bury a blade in your face. Standard approach, here. Though, if we can wield a weapon in each hand...

I'll probably go with the ranger class I made in Oblivion:

Strength + Speed

Athletics
Acrobatics
Blade
Block
Marksman
Sneak
Light Armor

If it's like the other games imma role a DarkElf and then get the starter sign Lord* so i have good healing at start of game with a 25% fire damage resistance.

*If they still have signs at all even. I already forgot whatever morrowind had.

I'm doing daily calisthenics in preparation for Skyrim.

I do this running-jumping thing continuously on my way to work every day to work on athletics and acrobatics.

I'm probably going to do what I did in Oblivion: make a few test characters to see what kind of direction I want to take and then pick it.

Though if Skyrim is anything like Oblivion I'll end up being a half-sneak, half-mage hybrid.

This is the kind of stuff that get's you too excited for the game.

Needless to say, I haven't thought that far into it as of late.

But if I had thought about it... It's gonna be Rick Mangus. He's a huge overcompensating dick, and a dangerous drunk who gets completely shitfaced and runs into the forest to punch the wildlife.

I usually don't come up with backstories for my character, though I guess there has to be a first time for everything;

Anark, the Bosmer (or Argonian, haven't yet decided).

He is a sly character, infamous for his way with words. In conversation, he is curiously gentle and pursuasive, in dicussion he is spiteful, yet intelligent. You may think you're winning the argument, however, in most cases he will suddenly flip your case around and you'll be outed as a guar. Due to his words, he also skilled in the art of haggling, often saving septims here and there.

Should you be on his bad side, you must be wary, for he is able to be invisible should he need to. His way forward is either by the slice of a blade, or a pierce of an arrow. He is an acrobatic fellow, so you may expect him to emerge from anywhere. Even though you feel safe behind locks, know that these are not a challenging obstacle for him.

He is adventurous, and many wonders has he seen as he has travelled with only light equipment and the necessary provisions. His thirst for new quests and fortune has led him to the borders of Skyrim. Time will tell if he finds what he seeks.

As you might see, I play a manipulative dick.

My initial character is always a Breton mage/priest named Sirus Darkflame, or just Sirus. And actually thinking about it now, since you don't choose a set of skills to follow, you can technically just master in like 4 or 5 skills instead of 7. Probably Destruction, Resto, Conjur, Alteration, and maybe Illusion or something else.

I always follow that up with some version of a Orc fighter. Definitely going to dual-wield axes, been waiting so long for that. Oh, and his name is Gnokker.

After I get the feel of the game, the character I'm most excited about starting is going to be an attempt to re-create "Balor the Fallen Lord" from the Myth series of games. Will specialize in onehanded blade in one hand, lightning (specifically lightning) in the other hand, and heavy armor to compliment. Oh, and he'll probably be an Imperial since it fits his appearance and he's a commander.

The way they are setting it up now gives so much freedom....

I'm most likely gonna do something simple. sword-n-board, light armor, and a bit of healing magic to keep myself healthy without weighing myself down with potions. Then afterwards I'll try a dedicated mage.
