I hate how most reporters think it's their "god given right" to stick their nose into other people's business.
It kind of is. You know, how most civilised countries have 'Freedom of the press' written into their constitution as one of the basic human rights.
Doesn't mean that you have to answer truthfully when the press comes bugging you about stuff you'd rather keep a secret for now.

I really wish I could have played Human Head's Prey 2. I'm sure Arkane can do a good job of making a good game, but Human Head has something special on their hands...

I still do have some hope for this. I mean, those amazing initial trailers, then it being handed to the developers of dishonored, one of my favourite recent games.

But honestly, I think by this point, maybe it's been shoved around too much.

Yeah...I kind of just lost my interest in the project. I was all up for space bounty hunter, but every game that has tried to be a spiritual successor to System Shock has been a disappointment to me.
Same here. If Ken Levine can't make a bloody decent spiritual successor the SS franchise then no one can. (and before any bioshock fantards get their pitchforks out that's not a criticism of the games in themselves, it's a criticism of the games as spiritual successors to System Shock/System Shock 2)

Maybe they can change it to a spiritual successor to Red Dead Redemption for you... probably not, though. If they tried that it might reverse the trend of taken Prey 2 even further away from anything even remotely related to Prey. More likely to see it come out as a spiritual successor to Command and Conquer.

Except the press take it too far and confuse "whats in the public interest" for "for whats of interest to the public", the press have no freedom or right to know what products a company may be working on for example.

Does anyone even remember Prey 1? I don't, all I have heard of the series in the last few years is about how awesome Prey 2 is gonna be. And that its never going to be finished.

I would love to see an example of a game that got pawned off on a different team years into the process that ended up NOT being garbage. All I can think of is Duke Nukem Foverer and Aliens Colonial Marines as examples of what not to do.

I find it interesting how so many people get up-in-arms about the press allegedly being in collusion with game publishers, and then turn around and treat the press with contempt when it does something that specifically illustrates that it is NOT in collusion with game publishers.

Consider it this way: When the head of the NSA said the agency wasn't conducting widespread spying on Americans and it was later revealed via a major leak that this simply was not true, there was outrage. And while entertainment journalism doesn't deal with things like, say, the wholesale breakdown of personal privacy on a national scale, people either want the truth or they don't.

As for the "press sneak fucks" thing, I think it's hilarious. I love hearing how people really talk when they think nobody's looking.

Games take a lot of time to make, and sometimes even after all that time they end up cancelling because they just cant seem to make it work. At this point they may be trying to see if they can actually do the project and prefer to not come out saying "We are doing it" since it can still be easily cancelled.

Its the same thing with Valve, they could release Half Life 3 tomorrow and there was nothing wrong with that.

This is gaming journalism (entertainment), unless they are doing something illegal or mistreating the costumers there is no "truth" to find, you wont be chasing stories here specially regarding if they are or not making a specific game.

Its their product, maybe they want to let the world know of the game in a big flashy way, that worked well for Watch Dogs and The Division.

And leaks are nothing new. Hell, companies and agencies often provide the "leaks" themselves in an effort to control the media. Colantonio's anger may be understandable, but there's nothing underhanded about what's going on, except in how he has behaved himself.
The way I see it, the only underhandedness there is lies in the way the information was obtained. It would be understandable if it was leaked that the money they were using to fund Prey 2 came from the human trafficking business or by disassembling Game Boys and selling the parts for scrap - real reasons to question their integrity. However, as it stands, it's comparable to snooping through your neighbor's mail to see if he's really selling Avon when he would like to keep his private business private.

Anywho, that's my two cents on the matter.

On a semi-related note, wonder how they'll handle development.
