It's hard to tell with all the color correction and stuff, but the hat looks like something a hip west-coaster would wear.

No new or original ideas allowed in game land.

Though to be fair, I always thought Chell looked like a Native American.

Does anyone else remember how much flak Prey caught initially for its portrayal of natives on reservations? We had alcoholism, near-vagrancy, subservience to white customers, running gambling establishments, and the pseudo spirit walk stuff. A lot of people took offence to the first game, and wel all know that when people take offence it's easier to drop the whole thing instead of making minor changes to be more respectful.
But was any of that innacurate? Is anyone here of intellectual authority to discuss the issue?

Oh well, maybe we'll luck out and the dudes half cherokee or something.

Ironically, they did the same thing to Portal. Maybe they think Portal does the physics better, but whitewashing? Man, do they have Portal BEAT!

I was excited to hear they where making prey 2, but very disappointed when I found out that the main character wasn't native American.

I am of semi-intellectual authority having been in and through 2-3 Indian reservations. It's about as offensive as people making a small town in a game and making NPCs be associated with the common stereotypes of small towns. (Incest, alcoholism, abusive hillbillies that farm pot) The reservations I've been to don't seem much different than many other towns.

Wasn't this game cancelled ?
I think it was just delayed a bunch...

The first Prey game was delayed like crazy as well, so at least they're being true to the Prey brand in that way :)

Also, is the Prey 2 character actually white? It's hard to tell with the lighting. He looks like he could be hispanic or part native or something.

that's not white, that's middle milky-creamy lol, sounds counterracist; let's just say the dude looks caucasian. Or like the Infamous antihero

Necro'd indeed. I understand this game has either been canceled or perpetually delayed.

The Prey 2 character is a US marshall named "Killian Samuels". That sounds pretty caucasian to me. There's also another promo shot of the characters arm.

As of right now these are the only images we have of the protagonist. You be the judge.

That was a concern I had, that they'd botched it the first game. True enough the depiction of the reservation wasn't very good, but it's a shame to abandon a native american protagonist over that.
