Even though you may just be adding the hyperbole for more polarised responses, it does interest me somewhat with how the enemy battles will play out. I did make a thread not long ago about the recent gameplay vid, not sure where it is now, but perhaps my lack of hyperbole and a growing distaste from the community was what saw it unseen into obscurity.
When it comes to object transformation, I really really hope it lets me turn into a toilet roll so i can roll into the toilet and patiently wait for an unsuspecting house-trained alien to hurriedly do its' deed, and just as they grab the roll, *phoooph!* Ahah! I turn back into human and glue their terrified and ashamed intergalactic buttocks to the space loo. That will officially complete my life, am certain of it. Then I can find a hole to crawl into and die slightly less unfulfilled.

When did people start calling games ''immersive sims''? Sounds even dumber than walking simulator.

But no, I highly doubt it. With games like RDR2 and Nioh releasing the same year it certainly won't be for me.

So I wasn't into it, but one line in the gameplay trailer sold me. "You can go practically anywhere in the station" (Basically what it said.) The open levels are the one thing I miss the most about system shock. If they can let you go everywhere logical at the start, then it will scratch that old ich.

Red Dead Redemption 2 and Cyberpunk 2077 - 'nuff said.
Oh that's right, 2077 is a thing. I forgot about it because there's barely been any announcements about it. *Googles* Good Christ, it was announced three years ago. I feel old.

Also Persona 5. Now nuff has been said.

It looks like it could be fun, interesting. But *best* of 2017? Have my reservations. First of all, the enemies look pretty damn boring. And they seem to all have annoying traits. Disguising themselves is cool, but I imagine it would get old quick, as would teleporting all over the place. And black and shadowy things, it was underwhelming when I saw the little spiders, but then I saw the other "variations", and, nah.

Secondly, with the amount of flipping stories, devs, and everything, they could have abandoned the name Prey a long time ago. Does it even have any native Indian themes? And Prey was about a guy on an alien ship, this is about aliens on a human ship. So like...yeah.

It kinda reminds me of the rebooted Syndicate, and Half-Life 2 for some reason. Yea, it does seem System Shock-ish spiritually, and I am very curious about all the fabrication and clever use of the glue gun, but I'll give it some more time and read/watch a few reviews before deciding.

Personally I think it will be the single greatest piece of art ever made in the history of mankind.

Sure will be!

...well, it would've been. 'Generic Sci-Fi fighting shadow monsters with mechanics lifted out of Prop Hunt' doesn't quite have the same appeal as the old concepts of Prey 2. Hell, even the first Prey was more interesting. Now, when it comes out maybe it'll actually have some cool shit not in the trailer, but right now... yeah. Maybe I'll get it during a Steam Sale when it's 80% off.

2017 looks to be even worse than 2016, so it's a low bar to clear.
It looks like it could go either way.
The games that look good in 2017 are South Park: The Fractured, but whole, and Horizon: Zero Dawn.
Maybe Andromeda, but that could go either way.

The only game now that can beat the into-coffee-cup-turner-simulator that is Prey, is a game in which you can turn into a delicious cup of noodles.

That depends on your taste OP.
I'm on the fence about Prey. It's pretty different to its predecessor, which btw I think was only mediocre. It's just odd to even call it Prey at this point.
Then there is that this redesign is somewhat generic compared to the initial reveal trailer which hinted a much more "outlandish" game.

Having said that I see nothing terribly wrong with the gameplay demo. Seems to be in spirit with BioShock or System Shock. I liked those games. Alien design is bit... boring I guess.

But I'm personally am more excited for Horizon Zero Dawn, Mass Effect Andromeda or Red Dead Redemption 2 which could also see a late 2017 release.
Then a lot of people look forward to the new Legend of Zelda, Resident Evil 7, For Honor, Persona 5, South Park: The Fractured But Whole and even God of War might release in 2017 as well.

It must suck do have your taste in games if you can't find anything in 2017 catering to your preferences...

While having standards sometimes prevents me from enjoying terrible things, it also gives me a smug sense of superiority, so it breaks even.

Ohhh B-Cell. Never change my man, never change.

Anywho, I am looking forward to Prey, as I like myself some System Shock. I'll probably get it somewhere down the line.

2016 Had Doom, Planet Coaster, Enter The Gungeon, Oxenfree, Superhot, Overwatch, The Banner Saga 2, Pokemon Sun/Moon and The Witcher 3: Blood And Wine amongst other things. It's been a pretty fine year for all kinds of genres. Your personal taste can be anything, but it's hard to deny the quality of many smaller and large releases this year.

Heej now, that's B-Cell's own wholesome style. Don't you hurt our special little boy.

Not sure, in my universe I still have to wait a little bit for 2017 to start.

...

At least you said Shadow Warrior 2 was going to bring back old school fps and be "badass"...Oh.
But but, Quantum Break was...Oh.
And Doom 2016 single-handedly saved the fps genre by not being a repetitive arena-after-arena tour with the occasional bits of story thrown into incremental blocks of text...Oh.

Well I'm sure this one will be great, right? :p

In a year that had good games you only mention 2, (Overwatch, Banner Saga) and a DLC. (Witcher) How did Doom, a game that brought back all the horrible design elements of old FPSes that we hadn't moved past until the era of Good FPSes ('01-'10) get on your list of "Good" games?
I fail to see Dark Souls 3, Civilization 6, XCOM 2, Fire Emblem: Fates (If you ignore the story) or The Last Guardian anywhere on your list.

I-

*sigh*

Don't confuse your personal taste with quality. Just... Just don't.

Also, you might want to notice the "among other things" I wrote there.

Y'know, I could swear I've seen this kind of thread before, only replace Prey with, well any game that B-cell fancies. Well, time to read the rationale and...and...

(Yes, System Shock fans, I can hear your screams.)
But no-one can hear you scream in space...

Careful - scuttlebutt is that Final Fantasy XV might have beat you to that.

You know, given how often we've gotten burned by stuff like this, maybe it's time to take Public Enemy's advice:
