Based on what I can see, it seems like it's a rental, a nice relatively easy game to kind of relax to was the buzz I heard in just listening to 1up Yours from a week ago.

My housemate got it but I don't think I'm going to play it, the part of the combat that was fun for me (dicing three or four enemies at once by pulling off a good combo move) are completely gone and the platforming is too confusing and samey for me. One of the things I liked about the earlier games was that they felt like you were in a real building and making real progress (to an extent: Warrior Within got a little bizarre because you went through the same areas several times). In the new one, it's like you're platforming inside an MC Escher painting--moving around but not really going anywhere.

I'm probably going to have to agree with the "rent" crowd. It's worth a look, but since I watched my housemate play it I have no desire to play it myself.

Worth a buy. I've played it through twice so far and it never gets old for me. I love exploration in this game. The platforming is just so fun!

I like SoT a little more than this one, but this one has so much more replay value.
....Exploration? How?! The game's more linear than Call of Duty 4.

If you want a game with emphasis on exploration buy Fallout 3. As it stands Prince of Persia is a linear platformer with fancy combat and a storyline. You'll replay it to relive some of the story moments, not to explore. Unless of course you're easily amused by doing the same fucking combos and the same inane jumps over and over and over and over again.

Oh and watching that annoying animation when you fall down a ledge.
Exploration has nothing to do with linearity. But the platforming in this game is solid that it never gets old. Huh, maybe I am easily amused. It's my OPINION Richard.

You think it's good for a rent, I think it's great for a buy.

I bought it and I like it a lot. I won't be trading it in because I never do. That said, I probably won't be replaying it, either, for quite some time.

Assassin's Creed is infinitely better, but that's because AC's story stands head and shoulders above most of the dreck that passes for games today, be it action or RPG (see Fable 2, for example).

You sound like you're torn, so I wouldn't buy it if I were you. Just rent it.

I'm waiting for Yahtzee to review it. Considering how big of fan of SoT he was, I am very interested in his thoughts with this one.

Game rental exists for a reason. Rent it, play it, and if you really like it, then buy it.

Well, that's that settled then, given the number of rent it/borrow it comments to be seen here. I'm disappointed this game didn't get a much better rating than it has done. The last three PoP games made up one of my favourite game series of recent times so I was really hoping this would compare. The main things that put me off are the fact that it it is totally impossible for you to actually die in the game (I do feel the need for at least some element of risk in my games) and that you apparently only face off against one enemy at a time. Engaging a good number of enemies at once was one of the best parts of the series (especially in the Warrior Within and Two Thrones, where the combat was improved somewhat).

Still, I shall probably at least rent this out, just to see what's it actually like to play.
