Sands of Time is bollocks. The dogs bollocks, that is, which by the vagaries of British slang means "really, really good".

Seriously though, Sands of Time is one of my favourite games of last-gen and I won't hear a bad word said about it. The combat? Yeah, a bit fiddly at times, I agree. "Vertical, brick wall"-difficult? By no means. Keep plugging away at it and you'll get the hang of it. Even if it's your least-favourite aspect of the game it's well worth persevering for the brilliant platforming and storyline (and if nothing else, so you can have an opinion on a widely-recognised landmark game).

Having said that, I played exactly one level of the sequel and gave up. It just didn't appeal to me one little bit. Too "edgy", too "grimdark", none of the flair or vitality of the original.

I love Sands of Time, but the combat is the most repetitive I've ever played. When I threw up a playthrough on YouTube, I edited out most of the fights, because it was the same thing every time anyway.
