I'm not even sure if he did, I'm just guessing that it would be pretty complicated to program that symbol into a text article. I'm not the world's biggest Prince fan either, I'm just uncertain of when this happened as well.

Regarding what he said, I don't think that the mass numbers of people using the Internet every day care. It's not as if the entire Internet will shut down as a result of this. The way I see it is that it's just one person's opinion. Just because a person who's famous says it, doesn't mean we have to panic or obey like mindless zombies. If Prince doesn't want to release his music in that format, that's his own business. People have ways other than the Internet to listen to it, and just because music is ubiquitous on the Internet thanks to iTunes, doesn't mean that all music is controlled in that format.

Long opinion short, I'm neutral on the whole matter.
