Oh, ALWAYS. I've been 'probed' a few times and I'm sure people were let down by what I wrote, since it's either not very interesting, or there's not much content.

I really want 'Probed' to catch on. :D

Usually a mod will leave a note saying that they probationed/suspended/banned them for repeat offences, or if the reason for the ban was weird or obscure, like when someone requests it.

When they dont leave such a note, and its not obvious, it annoys me
Yeah, some of us do that to be helpful, but not all of the mods have the spare time, especially when things get busy, on here or in real life.
I try to do it as often as possible. Some posts are so obvious that they don't need the notes. Others, it is better to point out the problem.
Ive always wondered, do you mods ever get berated by people because you banned/suspended someone and they thought it was unfair? Not the people who got suspended, but just random people?
Of course they do [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/6.175608-Editors-Note-The-Spy-Who-Fragged-Me]. Too be fair though, there have been much bigger complaints regarding users getting banned, mostly from the friends of said person who think that they don't deserve to be banned due to their bias nature.

Every. Single. Time.
Always. My curiosity just doesn't leave me alone, i HAVE to look what they did to deserve that little red writing at the bottom of their post...
Though sometimes I've seen some get banned without any red writing. That kinda puzzles me. Even kicking on their profile doesn't show anything.

Lol, sometimes, just to see what the mods consider banning/probation for.

Sometimes I disagree with the decision but sadly, nothing you can do.
Yes you can. I got probation removed twice.

I do, because it's often hilarious.
Yeah, I do this a lot. I hate it that yesterday I saw someone banned and there was no link to the post that showed why...
It probably means that the thread they got banned in was locked and deleted. It happens often.

I found that I was more interested after I got probation'd myself. Not that I was surprised when it happened. Now I check if it's someone I know and don't if it's someone I don't, mostly because I get worried when people I like receive mod attention as I don't want them to vanish. I do personally think they can come a bit thick and fast, but I can hardly say people won't be aware of that when they post, since all probations and so on are public and the rules are fairly clear.

Yeah, always. Mostly just to get a cheap laugh- it's usually good for one.

But it does help familiarise oneself with the rules. Hell, I only learnt that FIRSTs were illegal by clicking on one of those. Not that I'm a FIRST person, but I wouldn't want to risk my first post becoming a FIRST post and getting me on probation. FIRST.
I believe you are spelling that wrong, surely it's FRIST.

I don't check probations, but I might check a suspension or ban if the thread is innocuous. If it's a flame worthy thread I just assume they went too far.

I say protest the decision if you don't agree with it. I got a warning for something stupid, writing a one-word answer to a post. I am serious thinking about writing anonymous about this.

Ahaha!

Yeah, partially because I'm nosy, but also because it makes it easier to understand exactly where the line for what is and what isn't allowed is drawn.

I'll probably get a probation or maybe even suspended. I can't keep my mouth shut and often post controversial things.

I do most of the time, more often than not to keep an eye on what not to do... Though sometimes its a bit bloody obvious, derision and hatred is clearly not going to go down well.

But sometimes, it does strike me like people have been sanctioned for just expressing an opinion that a mod must not have agree'd with, or including a sarcastic/harmless xenophobic remark.

However, then you have to remember that the mods can review a persons entire post history before they make a decision (dunno if they do but I guess they should) so it could be a culmination of factors.

I always do, and find it amusing whenever I see a thread with mutliple ones. The better idea might just be to close the thread instead of putting half the posts on probation.. but that's just my thought on it. Mandatory notes at the bottom to say what they've done would also please us probation lurkers more, and if anything would be more shameful to the person receiving it, so they'd be more careful. It'd definately clear up the story, and the mods wouldn't get a much grief for it.
