They are indeed two different thins made in two different ways. So there is no point referring to jam and jelly. Why can't jam be jam?
Apparently, I missed the point of your initial comment.

I suppose I wasn't aware that we Americans use the term "jelly" for jam. I've always used them for their respective products.

I am even more of a pig in the fact that no matter how much I eat, I never gain any weight!
Damn. I'm jelly.
Are you American? Do you mean jelly as in proper jelly, or jelly as in a pointless way of saying jam?
He means as in "i'm jealous" :p
I'm sorry; is that American slang? I'm English, and I've never heard that phrase before.
I'm English, and it's some new internet slang that's gaining popularity quickly.
Cheers! Although I've never heard it used before now. Perhaps we're slower to catch onto the fads in Surrey.
No worries, I only heard it yesterday :p

I deliberatly dont buy much in the way of sweets because if I buy them they last 24 hours max. Ill eat my way through 7 or 8 packs of biscuits, a few tubs of brownies, a few boxes of donuts. :S Its not health.

I usually go through a tub of prinlges a day once a week and today I had two little pizzas which took me a while to finish. I felt full and sick afterwards.
In my defence, I've been living off about one sandwich a day for the past week.

Hm... no idea what profiteroles are.

Well, the most disgustingly many calories i pumped into myself at once, was, i think when i ate a whole Black Forest Cake by myself. Ate it for breakfast, dinner and the rest in the evening... maybe about 4500 calories or something (and drank a lot of milk and juice for extra-fat and sugar).

It is sometimes nice to just gorge yourself. But you can't do it all the time. (Well some people can... but i prefer to be able to MOVE properly, and have money to buy something different than food... and not to die at 30 with some embolism or something and be found a bloated corpse with shit in my pants)

When I was in college I taught myself to bake, and as you can probably imagine, fresh bread was quite the draw when compared to ramen noodles, mac n cheeze and other college staples. One time I ate, at one sitting, a pile of BLT sandwiches made from two complete loaves of bread, two pounds of bacon, a head of lettuce and 6 or 8 tomatoes.

Just remembering it makes me feel sick.

And hungry.

So long as you're active enough, eat as much as you like, shows vigour and a lust for all things in life.

I would rather hang out with a jolly fat guy/girl than a sickly-looking, rail thin person.

Seriously [random supermodel], get yourself a sandwich!

I just ate some profiterfoles before I saw this thread! Yey!

I feel a bit disgusted after I realise I've eaten a whole tub of ice-cream in one go...

Apart from the obvious song referring to two ingredients combined together for a, "time," (yes, that song) most of the friends I've had that have emigrated from the USA have referred to jam as jelly. I thought it was what all Americans said. Evidently, it is not.

Could someone please enlighten me as to what a profiterole is?
Profiteroles are a french pastry dessert.

They are balls of choux pastry with a cream filling, usually served with chocolate sauce, either drizzled over the top or at the side for dipping.

They are, for the most part, totally forking sweet.
