Seconded! That's some prime Heresy there SpringTrap. And on that note, I'm pretty sure we all agreed that Zootopia is an amazing movie, one of the best Disney movies ever and in most of our top 5 movies of the year.AccursedTheory said:Why on Earth would I ever agree with that?springheeljack said:Guys, guys can't we just agree that the Miyazaki movies are better than anything Disney has ever animated and leave it at that?

Y'know, I was actually wondering why you'd respond to that fact with a video titled "it's afraid," but hey, the specific time stamp makes sense.Silentpony said:

I'd actually replaced Frozen with Tangled.Hawki said:5) Treasure Planet

Yeah but we're all ignoring them in favor of Zootopia and Starship Troopers.Redlin5 said:There's a big socioeconomic political discussion going on in this silly thread about a Disney movie.

No you won't. These movies are made for the kids and the parents, who are forced to sit through the movie that their kid wants to see. So instead of making a movie that is mind numbingly dull for the parents, but visually enjoyable for the kid, they do a really radical thing. They make a visually enjoyable movie, with a good plot and humor, so that the adults are entertained too!!Samtemdo8 said:I mean I certainly would not go see movies like How to train you dragon or The Good Dinosaur in theaters especially I will get looks from people.
Its not just that, its also the fact that I found children's movies to be samey.Happyninja42 said:No you won't. If you think that you are going to get a weird look because *gasp* "An ADULT!?! In a KID'S MOVIE?!?!" Then you are really, REALLY behind the times.
I don't think that's unreasonable - I've seen The Jungle Book, The Peanuts Movie, Goosebumps, Kung Fu Panda 3, Zootopia, and The Angry Birds movie this year, and apart from Zootopia, I was by my lonesome. I can personally attest that I at least got the sense that some of the parents with their children were wondering what I was doing there.Happyninja42 said:If you think that you are going to get a weird look because *gasp* "An ADULT!?! I've never had that issue at any kids movie I've gone to see. So I see your anecdotal evidence with my own anecdotal evidence.Hawki said:I don't think that's unreasonable - I've seen The Jungle Book, The Peanuts Movie, Goosebumps, Kung Fu Panda 3, Zootopia, and The Angry Birds movie this year, and apart from Zootopia, I was by my lonesome. That isn't a critique against the movies themselves (well, Angry Birds was dog-shite, but the others ranged from okay to excellent), but the idea that cartoons are just for kids, or that a "kid's film" can't be intelligent is still a prevailing one.
"By my lonesome" as in I wasn't with any friends or family, Zootopia being the exception. Though outside children's parents, I was probably the only adult there for most of those ones I listed bar Peanuts and possibly Zootopia (in that the cinema was so packed I couldn't pinpoint every single individual).Happyninja42 said:I've never had that issue at any kids movie I've gone to see. Besides, you said "you were by your lonesome". Do you mean "you were the only adult without kid there"? or "I was in the theater by myself" ? Because those are 2 very different things.
That reason I have zero issue with. "I just don't like most animated films, and don't find them worth my time" is a perfectly valid opinion. Feel free to dislike them on those merits. My issue was with your statement of "I'm an adult, I shouldn't be going to kid's movies in the theater", which I felt was simply inaccurate, based on the fact that most of them are called "Family Films" these days, implying they are made so that the entire family can enjoy them, not just kids. And I would agree, most of the animated films I've seen over the last few years, have been very enjoyable for me as an adult. Either due to the adult humor they put in there, or the adult themes they put in (like with Zootopia most recently, though How to Train Your Dragon also did this really well IMO). The visuals are usually quite beautiful, and the story doesn't revolve around piles of bodies and asplosions. So I enjoy them personally. But hey, we all have different tastes in entertainment. Millions of people love musicals, and I can't fucking stand them. Millions of people enjoy comedy movies of the quality level of your average Adam Sandler or Will Ferrel, and I wish both of those men would just stop working in the fucking entertainment industry. So we've all got our things. You don't like most animated films these days, righto, no problem.Samtemdo8 said:Its not just that, its also the fact that I found children's movies to be samey.
I know I am gonna see the same morals that I already learned from past things I have watched, the same kind of characrters.
I just feel I had my fill of Animated Kid's movies I mean after watching The Increadibles and Up I feel there is nothing more for me to see in Kid's movie.
Oh that would be awesome. I so loved that show, and to this day, every time I watch Jack vs the Lava Monster, I cry because of how awesome it is.Samtemdo8 said:Right now the only cartoon I hope for and eager to see is the Adult Swim Samurai Jack finale and so far no news have came out since its intial announcement:
Please don't let this end up being Powerpuff Girls 2016.
If anything it'll be Judy and Nick being framed and having to prove their innocence, which will end with Nick quitting the force to work as a PI, which forces Judy to make a choice between Nick and the Force. Final scene is Nick setting up shop, saddened that Judy apparently chose the ZPD.Nazulu said:Zootopia will definitely get a sequel, a very shitty sequel like Disney does 99% of the time. The topic/s should be what the director would personally like to delve into and not forced in anyway to follow the usual sequel formula.
Since that's a boring answer though....
I don't know, maybe the topic of spying into peoples lives to stop terrorism? Maybe we could a PG version of a similar topic to Lethal Weapon 2. lol
That already sounds like the most painful idea! Even as terrible as having their kids save the day. Have you done Disney sequels before?Silentpony said:If anything it'll be Judy and Nick being framed and having to prove their innocence,Nazulu said:Zootopia will definitely get a sequel, a very shitty sequel like Disney does 99% of the time. So if they had kids, would they be hybrids? Or would some be foxes and others be rabbits? Would the hybrids be Fabbits? or Roxes?Nazulu said:That already sounds like the most painful idea!
