Can we just have project "watch the Xbox crash and burn" instead? I mean, Microsoft is doing all the work for us, all we have to do is sit back and drink pina coladas, and not waste money on their system. I prefer that option.
I agree completely! I'm not the kind of guy who just wants to see the world burn but I'd like to see that this kind of stupidity is not rewarded.

Project "Don't buy an Xbox One" seems like the appropriate response. If it's a complete flop, Microsoft might rethink this new course of action.

Why would core gamers want to talk to them when they have made it clear that the core gamers aren't their concern? In that, i can see where they are coming from. The "core gamer" represents a tiny sliver of the whole gaming market.
Microsoft saw the money Nintendo was making with the Wii and their focus on People who might not have been gamers and may or may not have been somewhat aware of the topic "Videogames".
This group is way larger, has therefore more money to give you and will not spew hatred for your forum moderators to sort out. Another group of People they might like to get rid of is the rather loud People who infest xbox live and would garnish your experience with rather disagreeable language.

The "core gamers" are a tiny market which will constantly whine about everything and despite having spent a lot of time on forums and in chats, have a hard time expressing coherent thoughts.

So i can see where they are coming from. Core gamers will just have to buy something else and alienate the customer base of another platform.

Microsoft has made it perfectly clear that the core gamers are no longer an audience that they are concerned with. I wish that wasn't the case but hopefully Sony will show that it still wants the core gamer as it's customer. Worst case, I suppose I can finally have the excuse to learn how to build and maintain a PC...

I'm not going to go through the effort to try to change their minds. Go for it if you want to but I don't see Microsoft changing for our opinions are not the ones they care about anymore.
do you have a link that cinfirms this? or are you pulling this from the ether?

Also no fee confirmed on used games, here's the link.

Simple... Elegant... I like it. Let's wait a bit to make absolutely sure we don't have to do the same to Sony.

It'd be better if you just didn't buy their console till they stopped being idiots about it.

Eh. Your "rights" aren't being twisted in the slightest. A product you haven't bought has some features that you don't like. I'm not sure how you've come to understand this as an infringement on your "rights" in the slightest.

Just don't buy it. Buy a different console, or buy a PC.

That's how I'm doing it.
Hazabaza has the right of it. Your "right" as a consumer is to not buy products you disapprove of. The market will decide whether there's an audience for this thing or not.

Well i thought of a new idea in the vain of take back Mass Effect

My idea is we mail Microsoft mass amounts of squeaky toy bones, I had considered real bones but there are health issues, but anything bone shaped will do, bone shaped dog treats, plastic halloween skeletons.. You get the idea

Just write NO DRM on them or "I buy used games" or just Xbone or nothing at all

It might be silly, it might not do anything, but its an idea at least, hopefully it makes a point

Cheers
Chloe
Then people like me who use Steam put our heads up in confusion "Whats the big deal?", then go back to having fun on our much cheaper, and use friendly platform of choice.

Also am I the only one that thinks this entire thread is pointless? Microsoft have said you can trade in used games, it just has a ton of conditions thats all.

"Give this man a Nobel Prize!"

"In what, sir?"

"I don't know, make something up; JUST GIVE IT TO HIM!"

And thus, on the 2.19145e6th day, God created logic in man. And it was good.

Microsoft are too stubborn (as has been mentioned) for anything like this to work. It'd take a completely failed launch for Microsoft to pay any attention to their core gamer consumers.

I'd suggest that everyone upset with the console simply not buy it. Vote with your wallets guys and gals.

Care to share your sources?

So far we know they both have 8GB of ram, and an 8-core AMD APU, and that's about it. The only notable difference that's been revealed is the Xbox One-even-though-it's-the-third uses DDR3, and the PS4 uses GDDR5.

I guess I should post something about the actual topic, too: I'm thinking that simply not buying the Xbox is a better plan, and maybe sending an email explaining why you're not buying it.

Yea, I'm for the notion of simply not getting it. Their market and product will shift anyways, they're going for a different gaming/consumer demographic anyway. Let them appeal to their sports fans, and TV integration, and always-on. This could create a rift between casual and core gamers, which has actually been narrowed over the last generation, but this time one of the main consoles is going to be responsible for it.

What terrible forum was this? I can't fathom the kind of mentality that can pardon any of these actions that more and more game's companies are taking these days.

OT: There's a local petshop that's about to run out of stock of those dog bones tomorrow.

I'd probably say the wii u will probably have the most powerful gaming set up. xbone and PS4 need to be recording your netflix watching when you get the saw 100 ads achievement/trophy. Or just umm when your playing your games and it's downloading everything and has your tv ready >.> Ok I'm just making some of the stuff up, but ya expect both those two to be running a ton of junk in the background while it tries to play your games.

Uh...source [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/profiles/view/] I guess?

I didn't say anything about used games and merely stated that Microsoft doesn't care for the core gamer anymore. Did you quote the wrong person?

The no fees statement is intentionally deceptive. They aren't calling the cost the consumer pays a fee, rather they consider it a payment for access to a product.

Anyway, I'm all for a movement to push out DRM and anti-used game policies on consoles. It's basically the only advantage the consoles have over a PC. The only way we will have consoles in the future is if those advantages stay in place.
