MS has the strongest of the three consoles of the next gen
Care to share your sources?

So far we know they both have 8GB of ram, and an 8-core AMD APU, and that's about it. The only notable difference that's been revealed is the Xbox One-even-though-it's-the-third uses DDR3, and the PS4 uses GDDR5.

I guess I should post something about the actual topic, too: I'm thinking that simply not buying the Xbox is a better plan, and maybe sending an email explaining why you're not buying it.
My source is common sense. Nintendo's WiiU already underwhelmed and is kind of a non-issue for this generation but look at the various company's target demographics:
WiiU - children to early teens (ie family content)
Playstation - early teens to young adult, "core" players only
Xbox - young adult and up
Xbox + Kinect - children/family, early teens, adults, casuals, core etc... um apparently not mutes though...

MS is the only company whose target demographic is EVERYBODY. Kinect and the voice/motion control have a stronger appeal for casuals. The games list for the XB1 will appeal to core gamers. People forgot how underwhelming the PS4 reveal was (but it showed games! yeah MS said they'll show the games at E3 calm your tits). So while core players will probably only use the Kinect to turn their Xbox on there's still content aimed at them. It's just that a few core player arenn't very smart and are very vocal, if that wasn't true there wouldn't be all the hate threads.

Needs more ironic, multi-colored cupcakes.

Seriously "Please enjoy these 400 cupcakes. They might have different colors of frosting, but they all taste the same." BOOM! THAT'S a message right there! Just sending Microsoft a bunch of bones with disgruntled messages on them won't be as neat.

Or we could simply not buy the console. I think I'll just go with that option.
Or this. This sounds more cost-effective.

i'm sorry, your rights? microsoft has the right to deny used games, or trade ins, or include always on DRM (as examples, not saying they are), and in return you have the 'right' to say fuck off and not buy it.

i don't get this loyalty. sure, it's a disappointment, but if they're doing away with backwards compatibility anyway, the only real carry on is your xbl account, which has a gamerscore on it. just get the console which isn't trying to fuck you over...

For the just dont buy it thing, its a good plan but just seems a little passive..
Additionally, there are problems inherent in the "vote with your wallet" model. There's no way to tell if you are a lost sale or not, namely. If you want to send a message, simply not purchasing the console is the wrong way to do it. Similar if you want reform.

In fact, simply supporting the other guy may have the passive effect of condoning the practice for the rest of the market. That is, "just don't buy it" can have an effect of normalising it for the other consoles in the future.

Why? Because neither company knows why you're supporting or not supporting it.

The attitude of "if you don't like it, just don't buy it" might be the worst thing you could actually practice.

Then again, they don't seem to listen even when people do speak up, so it may be moot.

We actually do have rights as consumers, no matter what you think. First Sale rights do apply, and we should be concerned with them trying to do away with them.

I know PC gamers went and accepted it, but that doesn't mean everyone else should.

Trying to convince a company to un-proprietize their very proprietary platform is a fool's errand.
You aren't going to convince M$ to undo their mistakes at this point, because they sure as hell aint interested in listening to their customers; they're assuming a lot of you are already on-board.

The very best thing you can do is to not buy the system and let them take their losses.

And it's the second-worst source possible, because it really means "I'm oversimplifying the problem and making assumptions on the weakest of observations".

It's like saying that it's going to rain because you see clouds, since rain comes from clouds.
(and failing to realize most clouds do not produce rain)

What rights are these? lol. They can make whatever product they want, just as you have every right to just not buy it. I loved my 360, still do, but im not about to beg and plead MS to change. I just wont buy it.

won't matter. they'd basically have to make a new console to remove the features they'd instituted, and I don't see that happening unless literally NOONE buys it, but that's not the case. It'll probably sell like hotcakes.

Wouldn't it be easier to show how we feel about Microsoft throwing up the V's to gamers by just not buying their new console?

Hell, you don't even have to buy a PS4 if you don't want to, or a WiiU, just don't buy the Xbone; it doesn't look like we'll be missing much anyway.

Ah, sorry, I thought you meant XB1 was the most powerful in terms of hardware.

As for demographics, while microsoft might be trying to target everyone, what have they shown to actually get anyone to buy it?
The kinect sold alright, but I don't think they sold that many games off of it, so a huge focus on that seems a bit of a waste, and as for all their nonsense about TV, you know what every one of their potential customers already has to watch that? A TV.

Also, saying that people who are slamming the Xbox aren't too bright is really uncalled for.

Yeah Xbox has never been the power house of the three, it's the broad customer focus (well more of a "spray and pray" than a focus) I was talking about.

As for slamming the haters, most of the hate I have seen isn't based on any kind of factual information. People are raging against a draconian used game policy that exists only in their minds because they want to be angry (same thing happened with PS4 by the way). I can't get more than five or six comments into a thread without seeing someone making something up just to be mad about, even when the OP was about how that thing doesn't exist. How much respect can you generate for people like that? I'd like to be a nicer person myself but... a spade is a spade dammit.

Disclaimer: It is about 90% likely that I am not buying an XB1. So far nothing in this console generation is wowing me. Destiny looks cool but if I can get it on PC I will. I am a little curious about the Steambox though.
