Having already seen the movie (two days ago), I'm going to have to say that the Xenomorph...
...is simply an alternate result of the Space Jockeys' bioweapons.
Its equivalent of the traditional Alien Facehugger didn't come from an egg, but rather was to be born in a way similar to how Xenomorphs/Chestbursters are born... although its conception within the host was wildly different.
Note, though, that it probably can't be considered a precursor to the traditional Xenomorph, since The Derelict (and its eggs) on LV-426 most likely predate the events of Prometheus. I say this because of the fossilized state of the Space Jockey seen in Alien. Also, a ceiling in Prometheus' Space Jockey ship was decorated with a shape that I believe looked more like a traditional Xenomorph than what was born at the end of the movie.

I've known Prometheus was a prequel to aliens since the first trailer, If you look at the movies there's little hints of the word "Prometheus"
To your right, ladies and gentlemen, you can see a bunch of people on the internet getting mad at spoilers... that really aren't big spoilers.
The Xeno looks ok, just ok. I haven't seen the movie yet, so I am not sure how many, if any, differences there are supposed to be between this xeno and the classic versions life cycle.
As to the issue of the "spoiler" title. . .I knew this movie was heavily related to Aliens, and from the trailer I figured that there was probably a xeno making an appearance, so all the title did was confirm my own suspicions.
I don't consider it all that much of a spoiler, with the only exception being if a person had no idea that the film tied into Aliens. In which case, you probably don't know what a Xenomorph is, and don't care that the films are related.
