And, pretty consistently, Niko Belic, Marcus Fenix, Master Chief, (He keeps taking various Marines' guns and giving them pistols. That's just bullying.) Lara Croft (See Zero Punctuation for justification), and.....Yeah, that's all I got.

Think about it, in terms of all the abuse he puts a mentally unstable girl through (she went suicidal after his all too short disappearance) he's a huge dick!

So the consensus seems to be almost every game protagonist ever? Maybe protagonists who aren't jerks is a bit more interesting since every game seems to require killing loads of things. I nominate Solid Snake, because he can always be a pacifist depending on how you play him.

OT: In books, at least, Thomas Covenant is hard to beat. He is whisked away to a magical land where his leprosy is cured - and he celebrates by

He's also incredibly stubborn, which is sort of his saving grace, but it also makes you want to bruise him when he ain't looking and hope it gets infected. And he seems to be really bad luck for just about anyone likeable that hangs out with him.

As far as games go, Sonic's about as jerky as a little animal can be. Not so much in what he does, but in the attitude. Don't tap your foot at me, you spiny little creep - I'll finish the level when I'm done with my sandwich.

The protagonists in prototype and Just Cause 2. In prototype, the protagonist is a murdering jerk and in Just Cause 2 the protagonist is blowing up an entire country to stick it to the government and that includes civilian water towers and gas stations. In a third world country that's just not nice and stealing a poor farmer's quad (and stranding him in the middle of nowhere or even running him over) is just a dick move.

I don't know why you said Marcus Fenix was a jerk protagonist.

Chainsawing evil humanity destroying monsters and having your squads back wholeheartedly to the point of complete and utter selflessness? He sounds like a champ to me.

Also, I think Bayonetta is a huuuuuge jerk. The biggest. Kratos is a pissed of undead slave spartan warlord thing. He has every right to be a dick haha.
