Nathan fucking Drake.

Every word that spews from his pompous, generic, pretty boy mouth just makes me want to smash a Crystal Skull DVD and jam the pieces in his eyes(2 birds with one stone).

Incidentally I really liked Uncharted 2... I just hate the man I'm guiding through it.
Im tempted to get Playstation all stars...so I can beat him up

Cmdr. Shepard from Mass Effect. I hate his soldatesque and lack of finesse.

BTW : It's possible that we hate some people/characters because we see ourselves in them, or rather some flaws of our own characters. ;]
im nothing like nathan drank so I doubt that

Cloud from Final fantasy holy fuck is he stupid.

Also, I am a firm believer that whoever wrote Lymle from the Star ocean: Last Hope game should be dragged out into a street, beaten and shot.

She is worse than Navi from Zelda, and I shit you not.
In Clouds defense, he did have a pretty legitimate reason for being so....stupid in some parts of the game.

As for Lymle, i admit i agree in some respect that she's rather annoying although...strangely enough i just started ignoring her after a while to focus on some of the other more interesting characters. Admittedly the cast wasn't all that ORIGINAL but, hey, i found myself caring more for them then i did for the chuckle nuts in the "turn based action corridor traversing simulator" that was Final Fantasy 13....Why does everything bad in my gaming life inevitably come back to Square Enix?

A close second for Movies would be Sam Whitwhikey, or however it is spelled, from the Transformers movies. He just complains and moans in the 3rd film despite having a CAR THAT TURNS INTO A MOTHER F^&^ING ROBOT and a super model for a girlfriend. What a jack.
Ninja'd. I just forced myself to watch the third movie on Netflix...because it was free. Things in Sam's life: Ivy League education paid off by the government, presidential recognition, Victoria Secret model girlfriend who's basically cool with letting him be a mooch, robot pets, and an awesome car (which, as mentioned above, is also a robot). But he's sad because he doesn't feel important because he's not saving the world.

What a tosser.

Pretty much every "good guy" in transformers 2, expect for Optimus, seemed like they were all working extremely hard to make me wish they lose and die. Most especially when

That one moment where it looked like Devestator vacuumed up and killed one of those annoying as hell midget bots, I literally did a fist pump of joy while screaming YES in my head. Only to be followed with extreme disappoint when it turned out he lived.

You sure you don't mean Cole?

My candidate: Carl 'CJ' Johnson. Clueless, whining, punk.

Tidus from FFX, not just his voice. Any idiot would pick up from the awkward silences after "The End" and "Final Summon" are mentioned has something to do with death. The fact that Yuna's dad had yet to show up after supposedly vanquishing Sin makes it even more obvious.
Aside from him Navi and Tatl from Zelda, stupid fairies

Mako from The Legend of Korra (sequel to the above mentioned A:TLA).

The guy is a massive douche bag who : cheats on his girlfriend, refuses to own up to it when called out on it by his girlfriend, acts like a self obsessed asshole, and then we're still expected to swallow the horrible romance forced between him and Korra, with the creators trying to force down our throats that he's such a "great guy".

Yeah, single-handedly tainted my enjoyment of that show.

Haven't seen the second one, but in the 3rd one, I'm convinced they suddenly realized Sam or whatever he's called was an uninteresting, whiny douche, and thus made everyone else even less likable in an attempt to make to fix that. In fear of spoiling the entire movie:
It didn't work. 8D
God I hate that kid. And I wanted to dropkick everyone else in the movie in the face. THIS IS NOT GOOD WRITING GLARGH I want my 90 pre-explosion minutes back

Main characters in everything my girlfriend has begged me to watch with her also tend to be dumb(most notably in Notebook. The romantic rival was the only likable person in the entire movie, wtf).

Yes, I'm sure. Cole was not perfect. Hell, the entire last act of the game was him owning up to his issues. Jack, though...AGH!

Oooh, a classic case of "Why the fuck did they replace my protagonist"? The protagonist to the sequel of Drakengard, this little annoying butt monkey does nothing but whine and complain to every occurrence that happens, and even does the exact opposite of what the heroes were doing in the first game. After playing a badass who did not even bat an eye at what he had to do for the sake of Good and World saving; this is a very jarring transition. It's pretty bad when even the characters in the game are poking fun at your protagonist's complaints.

I would give a few more details, but that would include plot; and I'd hate to spoil that...

40k: Kaldor fucking Draigo. Mary Sue^10,000,000 with this one. Wait he did what? Okay I guess that could feasibly happe- Wait what's this about Mortarion? Yeah, no. He can't do that by himself unless he's the warp-dammed Emperor and even then, that's no cake-walk. WAAAAAAAAAARDDD!!!! For those who don't know, Kaldor Draigo carved the name of his master into the heart of the mother of all Badguys' heart which also happens to be surrounded by what amounts to hyper-infectious super space AIDS. Draigo did not become infected despite literally being inside corruption and disease itself. This is after he kills/defeats 7 Greater Daemons of More disease and nastiness (if Mortarion keeps similar company to Angron that is, which seems likely). And he destroys literally impossible architecture despite it being, well, impossible to understand. So... much... Derp.

Video Game: Evil Cole McGrath. There's a difference between being evil and just being a dick. Evil Cole falls into the latter as he has no plan other than 'be the biggest prick to everyone possible 24/7'. What's the point of giving the player a choice when the developers pretty much force the choice on you anyways? If he wanted to rule the world (OF COURSE!) at least he would have some kind of goal or end in sight, instead just kind of derps along the same path as Good Cole, and is just a twat the whole way instead. And the evil powers are also inferior to the good powers, so yeah, that too.

Most of the cast of Battlestar Galactica, especially Adama, President Roslin, and Starbuck. As the series goes on, Adama and Roslin are just wildly irresponsible in their treatment of their leadership roles, doing things to endanger everyone or risking precious resources on wild goose chases, and just generally being smug and complacent when they should be under heaps of scrutiny. They could have been less offensive in a different storyline, but with the way the writers handled it, they were permanently in the goodest of the good guy roles even as they were being relentlessly terrible.

Starbuck is just the worst. Everything she does is calculated to be relentlessly abrasive. All she does is mope around whining about how bad her problems are when the entire human race is on the verge of being killed. She has no redeeming character traits, but she is nonetheless put on the same damn good guy pedestal by the writers
I tried getting into Battlestar, but Starbuck killed it for me. How she gets away with the bullshit she pulls is beyond me. She doesn't act like a normal human, she acts like a schizophrenic sociopath with ADHD. I don't know why the hell she needs to flaunt her ego and disobey orders when she's supposed to be helping THE HUMAN RACE SURVIVE but I guess the writers and fans love independent women (even if they are mentally insane).

As for one of my most hated protagonists, its Dr.Who. He's not the main reason I hate the show, but he stands out. He's another character like Starbuck, who I can assume only gets away with bullshit because the fans love them. Maybe its been better without David Tennant, but I can't stand him as a character. He abuses his powers like a child and commits casual murder without remorse. How anyone can like him is beyond me.

edit: oh yea, and Dr.Who is a massive pedophile. Does nobody realize he is like, 1000+ years old? Guy gets around.

Agreed, there was so many moments where you cant help but think "Get over it already". I appreciate thats part of his character and if anything its a great portrayal of what happens when you load all that stress onto a kid but even still. Gets frustrating after the first few episodes, desensitize already!
The Rebuild Movies actually made him a freaking badass!

And somewhat easier to relate to.

Back on subject I'll have to say Snow, Hope and Lighting from FFXIII were a pain to watch, not because Lightning was made of angst like Cloud or even Squall but because she was always so UNREASONABLE with others! When ever someone talks to her they always seem to piss her off or she always outright refuse help when she obviously need it

Snow is as single minded as they get and completely oblivious to a certain woman telling him (with her FIST) to don't even bother being "friendly" with her, the idiot is always talking about being a hero like he's still a kid and don't get me started on how old he looks in comparison to his fiancee who looks like jailbait

And this Hope boy who was so pathetic that he couldn't even CONFRONT the person who supposedly inadvertently got his mother killed and spend the WHOLE fucking game sighing/glaring at the person responsible and then sulks like a little ***** when the person barely looks his way going to far as to rely on said person to even get so far in piece! damn Hope was such a pussy, Lighting was such a ***** and Snow was such a Retard!!

A "honourable" mention would be Vanille for her Voice alone that shifts between FOUR different accents mid sentence and a bubble headed personality to match!

Sazh and Fang I like, the rest can get sit on by a Adamantoise!

The shit he goes through would make a grown man break down, and he's going through it at his age, and actually succeeding, I think he's allowed a whine from time to time, or all the time rather.

I personally hate Kira Yamato from Gundam SEED (though I doubt too many people here will know him), way more whiny and has incredibly naive ideals, but he's also incredibly OP in terms what he can do, and starts forcing those ideals on other characters, especially in the sequel. It wouldn't be so bad if he wasn't the MAIN character and is the one that the show is supporting as "in the right."

it actually "the doctor"

and even though I completly missed most of Tennants time as the doctor..I though I may have read that tennants doctor did actually start getting a bit "god complex"

in once instance he "saves" a womens life who was suposed to die because "fuck the rules! I have a aTARDIS" and then she learns this and kills herself anyway because she disaproves of him fucking with time

not the same....he doesnt get it on with half of his companions and its not age differcne but the mental maturity of the question in person

I watched Avatar recently and the Na'vi just pissed me off. They acted like they were better than the humans and didn't even listen to the humans terms. I have a few others, but that is the biggest one. What protagonists that you are supposed to side with did you hate?(and by extension prefer the antagonist)
Now, It was a while since I saw that movie. But i distinctly remember humans coming to the Na'Vi and just wrecking their shit up because humanity is greedy as fuck, because we are.

Well I'm not sure if it counts as I hate the bad guys and actually every single member of the cast but, that guy from Custom Robo on the GC, I have no idea what his name was but I named him Octopus, and he is such an idiot I was tempted to destroy the disc, but seriously the story of that game AAAAAAAAAAAGGGHH, it's awful.

I also didn't like Sheppard, none of the choices available made him likeable for me so I just went ahead and made him the biggest asshole possible, and then never played Mass Effect again, seriously I hate you Sheppard, I'm not even sure why but I do.

I'm pretty sure there's more as I hate way too many things, but I can only think of that for now, must be because I actually liked Custom Robo and the crew from ME so it hurts me more, but really real reason ME didn't work for me was because actually playing it was so boring, the cutscenes were the most entertaining part but since I hate Sheppard I wasn't going to sit through that.

[sub]Honorable mention, Hisao Nakai from Katawa Shoujo, because I don't actually hate him but he really, really pisses me off at times, like pretty much every sex scene, but really that's my fault for playing that thing knowing I don't do well with sex scenes in general.(They scare me more than any horror movie...)[/sub]

Edit: Gha! Please ignore my snobbish comment. You're right, he's perfect!
