Seriously. I'm not trolling. I even loved the original. But it's worse than Amy, Too Human, Darkest of days, and the ME3 ending combined. The controls are unresponsive, the combat is bad, the leveling/skills system is a joke (you get upgrades by hunting for collectables), the cutscenes look lazy, the blackwatch look like shitty, generic space marines, the characters are cardboard and don't even behave in a believable way, the list goes on.

Radical should be ashamed that Prototype 2 ever hit shelves. If you value your time and money, do not buy Prototype 2, because it was made by a mentally challenged caterpillar.

Those of you who already bought it, I feel your pain. Feel free to share your feelings here.

Ahh.... thank you telling me it was bad, but I wasn't going to get it anyway.

But I have a friend that needs to hear this information.

Oh it's out? I really haven't been keeping up to date on release dates lately... Well I wasn't gonna buy it anyway, Prototype 1 was ok but I wasn't hopeful for a decent sequel. Tis Activision after all XP

I have a shitton of League of Legends to play anyway XD

The quest to master Evelynn continues... Ridiculous invisibility ftw! Yes it can be argued that she's underpowered but I DON'T GIVE A FUCK damn she's fun! I haven't seen anyone rage at me for picking her anyway... This is solo unranked though. 'S not like team composition has any place over there

Played it at my friends house... I was honestly shocked at how bad the controls were. Whereas Infamous 2 improved on the first Infamous with more abilities, better graphics, and better A.I, Prototype 2 seems to go backwards from the original.

What a shame.

The trailer alone looked absolutely shit. Plus, when I heard Johnny Cash's rendition of Hurt playing in the background (one of the only truly emotionally affecting songs I've ever heard) it just pissed me off. Unrelated, I know, but I say good riddance. I hope it under-performs.

That trailer really bugged me if only because it was pretty good. It set a really good dark tone and in short outperformed the game. It's essentially this years Dead Island, great trailer with an amazing mood, then the game gets crapped out and it's nothing like it.

I've been enjoying it so far. It's been a while since I played the first one, so I'm not really noticing much of a difference in combat. The only place where I've died so far has been against this tentacle boss, which was mostly about figuring out its attacks and how to avoid them. The first game had piss easy combat due to your being insanely over-powered and so does this one. Only problem so far is sticking to things I don't want to stick to while running (same happened in the first game) and always hitting the wrong button when I want to grab people.

I actually like the leveling up system. In the first game, there really wasn't much of a point to doing any of the Events apart from gaining XP... and, frankly, it was much more fun to hop in a tank and blow stuff up. Rinse, lather, repeat until you got bored. Here you get certain types of upgrades from leveling up, while getting more upgrade slots through exploration. I find that a much more interesting than doing everything for XP.

Not being a huge fan of the Events in the first game, I don't mind them downplaying them in this one. I poked at a couple of them and found them to be about as meh as they were in the first game.

Only real downgrade is the story. The first one drew me in with the mystery of what was going on and this one seems to be a garden variety revenge plot. Unless there's a major plot twist along the way, Alex picking this guy to continue his mission is playing like a really obvious plot device so they can take away our powers at the start of the game.

I suspected as much. I enjoyed Prototype well enough. I mean, it was flawed, in... numerous... ways, but I enjoyed it. It somehow gave off that whole 'these guys are going to ride this title's success and not really try to improve where this one fell short much in the next installment, aren't they?' vibe.

And it seems my suspicious were correct; we have taken a step backward. Thank you for letting me know. I wasn't really planning on getting it anyway. You know. Aforementioned vibe.

I'm playing it and I'm finding it a lot of fun.

Controls feel a bit fast to me, but I was able to get used to them.

Combat unresponsive? How? I'm able to smash and slash everything I want.

I actually am perfectly fine with the leveling system. You can either do the mission and a bunch of killing and consuming(Specific consummation targets give you a boat load of exp), or you can hunt the world for collectables of all sorts for fun and little side-lore goodies. Or do both! I find I'm a bit overpowered at the moment. >.> Having did all the collectables for the Yellow Zone.

The cutscenes in the game are just that, cutscenes. They give a small amount of detail and story, just like the first game. I do like how it's all faded to slight black and white with the red and blue colors enhanced.

The Black Watch look like a group of very cruel, monstrous people. You're facing against a virus that alters humans into what can be seen as unstoppable killing machines, of course you'll have armor that 'looks' like it can withstand the creatures.

For characters? Other than the priest, who makes a spontaneous and immediate change of character so soon after you attack one Black Watch facility, I've found nothing wrong with them so far.

Heck, I'd rate the game a B at best, same as I rated the first Prototype game. More of the same, but with some alterations that don't hamper the game.

The problem I have with what you just described is that it seems like Prototype, whether by virtue of sucking or being a "B game" as you believe (implying they haven't learned anything from the first game's failings), has squandered its potential.

I've got to agree, the game is absolutely terrible. I'm still trying to piece together what made the developer think

"Hay we have this cool, mysterious, scientist who was mentally unhinged, lost all his memories and then has to come to terms with the fact that he's not even himself but a conduit of a virus, while at the same time slowly developing enough of his humanity to almost sacrifice himself to save New York city."

"Yeah so?"

"Lets make him the bad guy for no plausible reason and then put a generic black guy who's sole purpose of a plot is revenge."

"By god! You're like the Jesus of Idea's!!!"

Gah!

Jesus of Ideas made me laugh. Espesially since I can predict that being said.

Kind of off topic but that ad for the gamestop pre-order always bugged me. The first game was one of the most easy Ms I've seen since Splatterhouse and the second one didn't seem like it was going to tone it down at all. So why make a ad (and pre-order ability) that's aimed at fucking four year olds? It rubs me the wrong way when M games market themselves to clearly not M-aged audiences. Not that I didn't play M games at a younger age but come one man, where are your standards?

But I wasn't planning on getting this anytime soon anyway. Thanks for the warning!

Mercer isn't even Mercer in the first game! You're playing as the virus all the way through!

I wasn't going to play it the second I heard the main character's backstory. His family dies, he goes into a redzone in order to become an hero, Mercer instead gives him the virus, now the Main Character is pissed off that he now has godlike superpowers instead of becoming dead.

Honestly, I'm tempted to rent it just so I can make a video of Heller doing awesome things while playing Simple Plan's "How could this happen to me?" in the background.

By the way, if any of you want to make that video, go right ahead. Just mention me in the credits and send me the link.

From what I've seen, Mercer isn't actually the villain.
