Hi everyone...yes its one of THOSE threads again

what Im really interested in is the story and charachters, is it so awful that it would put me off playing? like I said before Horrible people doing Horrible things to each other is fine when its handled well (like in saints row 2) but when played straight tends to be unpleasant for some of us

so with that in mind like kane and lynch is prototype too unpleasnat in the regard?

Which platform do you want it on? I'm sure theres a demo for it on all of them. Although I didn't really like the demo, the game was just rather different to how I had pictured it.

Prototype was a LOT of fun. The lack of variation is what really lets it down. You've done practically everything there is to do within the first couple of missions. I still pull it out every now and then however.

Biggest pro is that you have a lot of powers at your disposal and even after finishing the game, there were probably half a dozen of them that I never got around to using.

Biggest con is that the game rarely provides you with a challenge that makes you use anything other than a handful of powers.

The story isn't engaging on a character level, but I did find myself curious about how everything happened and it throws a decent number of twists in that department. And I'm not a huge fan of the challenges that are the only side missions. While races, jump challenges, and Find X in time alloted are fun, I wish they had mixed in some proper story driven side missions as well.

But I had a lot of fun rampaging.

It's at least worth playing it once, it's true that you don't have to use all the powers, it's up to you how variated it become, i like having options, in fact i'm replaying it this week, and the the story is good, the Web of intrigue it's interesting.

So don't you listen to the reviews, if you have some interest in it, give it a try.

Good for a dicking around and a laugh if you liek being a super powered killign machine. Dont expect much fromt he story or anything like that. Easy achievments too if youre into that sort of thing

If you like giant slaughter engines with no purpose except free roam and slaughter buy it.

If you're looking for a good story with deep characters.... Pass. It's not there.

IF, on the other hand, you want to play around with some crazy superpowers in Manhattan... Go for it.

Personally, I love the game. Just getting from place to place is a blast. It's not deep, but it's good fun. Cheap, too.

Don't bother, it's a poor man's inFamous. The only cool thing is you can fly like a flying squirrel and the weapons/mutations are pretty sweet looking.

Prototype is all kinds of fun....story is very sub par......but being able to grab an old man, run up the side of the building, body slam him onto a car (causing an explosion killing 15 others), then EATING THE MAN to take on his appearance, and finally walking up to the wife of the recently consumed man....as the recently consumed man.......AND EATING HER TO makes up for that.
And you tell me that taking on the appearance of an old lady and hijacking a tank is not fun.
