Emily had been sitting in the same spot, she was in the room, but she wasn't really there. Thoughts were running through her mind about what she could have missed in the past 5 years. She noted that almost everyone was in the room, she looked up and spoke with a loud voice,

"I need to know what is going on, you are lying to me Sparrow. I am 32, it is 2009 and I have no clue what is going on."

 

[Sparrow]

Sparrow sat down the bed next to Emily's, as they sat in silence for a few seconds. He wasn't exactly sure how you were meant to address the loss of someone's memory.

"What do you want to know?"

 

[Doc Theta Sigma]

Doc looked at the twinkling lights of the city below as he glided through the sky above in his shadow form. It'd been days since he'd been able to use it freely and it felt great. After leaving his daughter's house he'd gone straight to the television station that had showed the story and used the shadow of the programme director to enter his mind and take the information of Sparrow and the other Prototypes. However tracking them down was proving more difficult... They would have to be staying close. A hotel wouldn't be smart for them if they expected him to find them, which he was assuming because he could think of no other reason they'd openly use their powers in public.

He swooped down onto the top of a nearby building and shifted back into his normal form. He looked out over the city and sighed. If he had his old powers he'd have found them in no time. But this was getting ridiculous.

 

[Sparrow]

Sparrow explained a few things to Emily that she asked, but strayed off any topics leading to her loss of memory. He did however, enjoy confusing her.

"...and then giant squids rose from the sea, and conquered the world. They don't mind us doing what we want though, they just like to watch. And they kill a few thousand people when they're bored too."

Emily, completely dazed by the strange and fake information, sat still for a few seconds to take it all in.

"Emily, I'm joking."

 

[Doc Theta Sigma]

As Doc dropped down into the alleyway he heard footsteps approaching. Melding back into a shadow, he swished along the alley to the mouth of it. Peeking around, he saw two men walking down the street towards the alley talking.

"These late nights are killing me man"

"I know what you mean... We've got those famous magicians staying at the hotel. Been steadily getting more fans crowding outside"

A smile crept across Doc's face. So they were in a hotel... But he needed to know which one. As the two men got closer, he shifted into his shadow form and stepped out from the alley. The men stopped dead in front of him, staring in shock. Doc grabbed the man who mentioned the hotel by the shirt and slammed him against a wall.

"What's the name of the hotel?" Doc growled.

"P-Park Barrington, it's about 4 blocks that way"

The man pointed back the way they'd just come from. Doc nodded and slammed the man's head against the wall, crushing it and instantly killing him. Turning around to the other man who was standing in shock, he grabbed him and did the same before heading off. He didn't want to be traced by the police who were still hunting him.

 

[SamuelT]

"Shh." Samuel said when he felt something. A....strange feeling, as if something had passed overhead. He couldn't quite put his finger on it.

"Never mind," Samuel said.

When Sparrow started to tell tales about giant squid, which Samuel couldn't really follow, he got that feeling again. If came from outside. He walked to the window and looked through it. Apart from the few fans that started to speak to each other when they saw him, he saw nothing.

"Sparrow, I think something's wrong." Samuel said.

Sarah stayed quiet as Sparrow explained the past to Emily. She gazed out the window, and for a brief moment forgot everything. Unfortunately, the thoughts came back as soon as she heard Samuel speaking.

She rose from the couch and made her way to the door. She put her hand on the knob, and spoke over her should to the others. "I'm going for a quick walk. I'll be back as soon as I can."

Sarah left the room and made her way to the parking lot. She sat on the bench and looked at the full moon that lit up the night sky.

 

[Sparrow]

Sparrow looked up at the moon. He felt it too.

"Samuel. Follow Sarah. If she's alone, anything could happen."

Samuel nodded, and followed Sarah out of the door.

"Iceous, check the windows for anything suspicious. Patrick, yo--"

Sparrow looked at the slightly dazed Patrick who was feasting on a large chicken wing.

"Eh, forget it. Look after Emily. Iceous, catch."

Iceous caught the phone Sparrow threw him, as he stepped outside the door.

"Keep an eye on these two.", Sparrow coughed.

Sparrow made his way down the fire escape of the hotel, and toward the exit. It was obvious Doc was here, and he'd try to single them out. If Samuel was with Sarah, and Iceous was with Emily and Patrick, Sparrow was the only lone target. It was almost too perfect.

 

[Doc Theta Sigma]

Doc landed swiftly onto the roof of the hotel. He could feel them... They were close. Very close. But they'd be easier to pick off alone. Then he sensed one of them. Near the fire escape. Alone. It was perfect. Melding into the shadow, he swept along the roof of the building and down to the bottom of the fire escape. Looking up from the shadows he recognised Sparrow... Or at least who he thought was Sparrow. Melting out of the darkness in his normal form Doc waited patiently, standing with the burned half of his face in the moonlight, making certain that Sparrow would see it.

[Sparrow]

Sparrow looked at the shell of the man that used to be Doc. His face was almost unrecognisable. He almost scared Sparrow slightly.

"You took your time, Doc."

Sparrow put his hands in his pockets, and purposefully left himself open to any attacks.

"Your face... sorry about that."

 

[Doc Theta Sigma]

"You're not the only one. I must admit... I've never encountered the use of explosives as a method of leaving peacefully" Doc grinned.

Sparrow flinched as the muscles in his face shifted. Doc immediately shifted into his shadow form.

"I've also picked up a few new tricks... How about a demonstration?" Doc said, stepping forward menacingly.

He drove a muscle packed punch into Sparrow's ribs, hearing a satisfying crack. Stepping back, he frowned. Sparrow hadn't made a move to defend himself.

"This is no sport at all Sparrow... I must say I'm disappointed"

 

[Sparrow]

Sparrow coughed, and felt the familiar presence of blood trickiling down his face. He grabbed his ear, but felt nothing. He tracked the blood back to his eye. Doc seemed almost horrified.

"I doesn't matter if I die, because I haven't got long left."

Sparrow grinned.

"However, I can take you with me."

Sarah saw Samuel walk and sit next to her. "Did Sparrow send you?" He didn't answer. "Fine, I don't care."

The two sat in silence, Samuel seemed to be disturbed, but Sarah had no clue as to what it was.

"Where's Sparrow?"

 

[Doc Theta Sigma]

"I don't think so. This is not how or where it ends I'm afraid" Doc said calmly.

He brought a foot swiftly into the side of Sparrow's head before melding back into the shadows.

"Tell your friends I'll be along for them shortly my friend" Doc spoke before shooting up and side of the building and away.

 

[Sparrow]

Sparrow hit the ground with a large thump, as his vision blurred. He had to find a way to the others, fast. He stood, and trounced through the fire exit. He stared at the neverending set of stairs, and came to a conclusion:

"Fuck this. I don't have time for stairs."

Without thinking of his own personal safety, Sparrow shifted into a boulder, and rolled through the walls, shaking the building. He stopped somewhere just outside the building, and managed to spot Sarah and Samuel. However, it seemed Doc had spotted them before him.

 

[Doc Theta Sigma]

Doc swept back down the building and stayed in the shadows as he watched Sparrow roll away. He was curious... He'd implied that he was dying. If it was true he might spare him. There was no sport in killing a dead man. He snaked along the shadows on the ground slowly, looking out for familiar faces. And then he spotted Samuel and Sarah. He rose up out of the ground opposite them, and smiled pleasantly as he approached.

 

[SamuelT]

"Doc! You finaly here? Took you a while." Samuel said when he saw, rather felt Doc appear behind him. He warned Sarah about him and asked her to go check on Sparrow. He could not entirely hear her mumbling, but she retreated a bit.

 

[Doc Theta Sigma]

"Well I was blown up and kept in a mental institution for 5 years so you'll have to excuse me"

He stepped into the light, which fully showed off his disfigurement to Samuel. He stood smiling, awaiting Samuel's next move.

Sarah followed Samuel's orders and went to check on Sparrow. He transformed back to his human state, but he was injured, very injured. "Dammit Sparrow." She muttered as she examined his wounds.
