Hey guys, I got my PS2 out of my loft recently, after selling my PS3 as I use my PC for gaming, I picked up my copy of FFX and thought... "Why do games nowadays have little or no re-playability?". Do you guys also think that the games that have been coming out in the last 2 years or so, say, Modern Warfare 2, will have as much pick up and play value in 5 years as Super Mario is today. Now, you might say that comparing the two games is irrelevant as they are so different, and I would agree with you, but the fact is, when the next big thing comes out, would you even look at it? I do occasionally go back to COD4 sometimes, its just so much fun. :D
And I remember the whole days of fun I had when I was younger, but i don't have so many memories of the newer games :/

Oh! And would you kindly suggest some really great, I mean EPIC games for the PS1/2 that I could buy to actually enjoy gaming again :)

Some games that would be as fun and re-playable as -

Final Fantasy X
Crash Bandicoot
Rayman

Games that people have replied with that I now remember :)

GTA : San Andreas + Vice City + III
Abe's Odyssey
Spryo (PS1)
Destroy all humans
Need for Speed Underground 2

Those are the only ones I have played though, I'm making a List :D
Thanks guys!

Some of the obvious choices are the first two God of War games, Shadow of the Colossus, and Okami; the latter is still my favorite game of all time for the PS2. I'd also definitely go with the Jak and Daxter series.

I think games for the PS3 has remarkable playability. I can't remember how many times I played through "Saints Row 2" , "Army Of Two" , "Soul Calibur 4" , "Modern Warfare 1 and 2".

Epic games for the PS2 :

-Shadow Of The Colossus
-Resident Evil 3: Nemesis
-GT 4

Crash Bandicoot, all 3 for PS1.

Abe's Oddysey/ Exodus PS1.

Timesplitters 2, if you have that one the others aren't needed. Endlessly replayable in local splitscreen. PS2

Def Jam Fight for NY. PS2

-Resident Evil 3: Nemesis
Pretty sure that was a PS1 game rather than PS2. Backwards compatible, sure, but still.

As for the list:

Zone of the Enders 1+2
Resident Evil 4
God of War 1+2
Kingdom Hearts 1+2 (and RE:CoM if you're in NA)
Metal Gear Solid 2+3
DMC1+3
GTA: Vice City+San Andreas
Armored Core series.
Final Fantasy X+X-2+XII.

I ordered X-2 the other day, I now know why my friend is such a horny little man :p

I'll have to check out God of War as so many people have suggested it, surprisingly I've never played it, never got into the hack and slash, except for Spartan: total warrior.

...Spartan: total warrior.
Badmouth X-2 all you want (I know I do) but the combat system and the garment grid system were nifty little experiments and good additions to the series. Okay, yeah, the story, dialogue, voice, camera direction and music weren't topnotch but the combat was nice and there were plenty of sidequests [sub]and eyecandy everywhere you looked.[/sub]

As for Spartan: Total Warrior, I quite enjoyed that though I don't own it anymore. God of War does hack 'n' slash better.

My PS2 favorites were:

Shadow of the Colossus
Okami
We Love Katamari
MGS2
FFX and FFXII (Yes, I like it...)
God of War I and II
Killzone
The PoP Sands of Time trilogy
Oh, and the GTA games of course...

I spent months of my life playing those (and still playing).

Is is Jack and Daxter or Ratchet and Clank which is made by Naughty Dog? I can't remember, i played Ratchet and Clank for the ps3 and it was so... mediocre, Is the ps1/2 version better?
