PS3 advice requested please

Hello everyone,

The holiday season is quickly approaching and I find myself, as usual, quite at a loss for gifts to request. This year I figured with the price drop of the PS3 and the PS3 slim (I don't own any PS2 games so don't worry about backward compatibility) I may ask for one of those. My dilemma, however, is that I already own a very good gaming PC, a 360 and a wii.

Obvsiouly, there is a massive amount of game cross over between those platforms, but that's where you escapists come in. Given the above situation, do you feel the exclusives on the PS3 are worth me getting one? Please keep in mind I dislike the metal gear series and I'm not a really big fan of FPS games on a console, but I'll play them if they are standout. I like pretty much all other genre of games on a console.

I tried to do a comparison of games on a list like on IGN's site, but it was taking far too long for me to read up on what every game was like, it's type and if it interested me which is why I made this post. Additionally, if there is good downloadable games on the playstation network we can count that as support for the PS3 game library.

Boy do I feel old and cynical. Every year I find it less and less justifiable to ask for gifts.

At any rate, I can't speak much for PS3 exclusives. I do have Heavenly Sword, which was nice but now aged. On a related note, God of War collection. PSN also has an array of PS1 software to purchase.

I found Valkyria chronicles okay, though it was mostly... strategy.
If you've ever played an SMT game, like mythology snooping around your adventure games and all that...
I know I bought my PS3 slim so I could play Folklore. =D
Intense action, and a....I'd say very well put together aestetic.

My mother would not have me not asking for anything, she's kind of loopy like that. I'd rather just let her get me something than hear how guilty she feels about it all bloody year.

Yes, yes, a million times yes.

I also have an XBox 360 (that my brother will be taking to university next year), a Wii, a PS2, and a laptop that is perfectly capable of running an assortment of games from the Orange Box and the like.

But I'm asking for a PS3 for Christmas so I can have it for when I leave for school, as well as because it has a growing number of sequels I can't stand not having! For example:

-Uncharted: Drake's Fortune
-Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
-Heavy Rain
-The Last Guardian

Among others, released or coming within the next year.

See, since I'll only be taking one console to school, and am losing the one I use most, it sort of sounds like I have a bit more reason to get one than you do. The best advice I can give you is to find a solid amount of exclusives you want, and then decide whether you can stand not having those games or not.

I personally can't stand being unable to play Uncharted every day, all day. Christmas can't come soon enough..

I second that. Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time especially.
Also, Resistance: Fall of Man and inFamous are both really good.

Those are all good non FPS games I could think of off the top of my head. Also if you Wipeout HD is incredible if you are into that type of racing game.

Heavy Rain - You should really check this one out, it looks very cool and unique, by the same developers that did Indigo Prophecy, but from what they have been saying this one is grounded in reality, no crazy wierd sci-fi plot this time.

God of War 3 the Uncharted games,Ratchet and Clank any psx game you still have laying around and in my opinion the best baseball series in Mlb the show.There are a lot of games that you can not play without a ps3 but I am not certain that if you bought all the great pc and 360 games you would ever have the time to play the ps3.

These sound pretty good! I loved indigo prophecy and was cheesed when I found out Heavy Rain was a PS3 exclusive as I don't have one.

My friend showed me Demon's souls and it looked punishingly difficult, right up my alley. However, in the little I played the controls felt kind of strange to me.

To be honest I don't have time to even play those, but I need to ask for SOMETHING to appease my insane mother.
