PS3 Arcade Sticks

I use a Hitbox (http://www.hitboxarcade.com/), takes some getting used to but i would never go back. Spent months trying to get used to my Madcatz SF4 stick but just couldn't do it. 1 week on the Hitbox and i was back on form

Other than that, i actually find a few fighters easier to play with a controller (UMvC3 i'm looking at you) and I've had some success using my Japanese Saturn Controller and a converter (though its not perfect)

Seriously though don't feel pressured in to a stick, it doesn't improve you as a player and its not a requirement. Many of the worlds top players still use a Pad and do just fine, you should be using a stick because it helps you and not because you have too

OT: buy a converter. It's cheaper , only problem may be some input lag. Not a lot (we are talking of a fraction of a second) but it's there .

I personally use the SCV stick and love it.

Seeing as how you sometimes need to pull off just frames in fighters, i think even "a fraction of a second" is not acceptable. Also he's using a wireless stick for 360, so converter = no dice.

Yeah, i'm just saying that basically a Hori FS3 is better, for around 30 bucks. Sure, it only works on PS3 but it has both better buttons and better stick, by quite a large margin. The big down side being that it kinda sucks for modding, obviously. All i'm saying is that avoid that Datel stick unless you are going to mod it, because you can find better sticks for the same price.

I have to agree that you don't need a 400 dollar custom build job for your first stick though. A Cheaper Hori or something is fine. There are, however, a lot of really shitty sticks out there that will just hold you back. On a side note, this guy obviously already plays with a stick, so there is no question about whether he'll like it or not, just a matter of how much he wants to spend on a controller.

Again, for a cheap but still decent entry-level stick i'd go with a Hori FS3. Also i tried the Hori FS Mini at a friends house, and it was surprisingly good for its small size. Nothing i'd want to game on permanently, but actually quite decent.

I honestly don't use it as often and when I do use it, it's mainly for some of the anime convention tournaments or when I'm hanging out with someone who's more comfortable with a fight stick than with a controller... (I just so happen to be good with both...)

So, I second the Hori PS3 fight sticks... I just so happened to buy the BlazBlue version right after picking up the Limited Edition version of Continuum Shift Extend because BlazBlue... Enough said...

Edit: Forgot it was limited edition... Why would I forget something like that??

Really? I've all ways found MvC games just easier on a pad, might have something to with my first time was on Saturn though with Marvel Super Heroes and Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter on my friends import copy through to MvC1 and 2 on Dreamcast

Funny thing is, iv'e never had trouble playing fighting games on a pad before this gen. Give me any controller from nes to game cube ( in terms of generations) and i'll play fine. Give me a xbox360 or ps3 controller, and my execution will be all over the place. I always find it amazing seeing people win using a pad. Especially an xbox pad, man fuck that wonky ass d-pad.

I'm using a Qanba BigBen, a stick I mainly bought because it functions on both PS3, Xbox 360 and PC, and I'm very happy with it. It's solid and responsive, all Sanwa-parts, and both the buttons and the stick feels very good. The position of the start button and the lack of a switch to turn off the start button are my only actual complaints.

I also know a couple of other people who have this stick, so I've heard some other opinions on it, mostly good ones. One guy complained that the stick got somewhat loose after a year and a half of use, but he was kind of.. violent in his motions, so that was more because of him than anything else.

Also, MadCatz-sticks generally work just fine. I prefer the Qanba to my MadCatz, but that's mostly personal preference.

I will vouch for this arcade stick.

A friend of mine that owns a internet/game cafe in my town has 2 of them and are the go to choice for when we play fighting games. I find the stick and buttons really responsive and good. I have no complaints about it.

And while I would love to throw down with you Fappy, It would be quite counter productive since said friend I mentioned earlier imported a Japanese copy of Chrono Phantasma we have been nearly playing it non stop.

Nearly everything about all characters are different.

I don't have one myself but alot of ppl suggest Qanba 3-1 (360,PS3,PC) which IIRC are easy to mod (I'd double check on that)

I just have a Madcatz T&C (wii) and 360 Brawlstick version which cost me £50 a year back plus £20 for a seimetsui ls-32 which was piss easy to swap in. There is a ps3 version of that Brawlstick too.

Pfbt, I have 2 MadCatz tourny sticks for the 360.

Modded with the ChImp board so it works on the PS3. $$$ saved!

If you play a lot of fighting games, they are well worth the investment. Provided you actually prefer playing on them, of course. Still, there's a lot of stuff in a fighting game that's just flat-out easier to do when you have an arcade stick. In fact, the difference is so big that I can't reliably backdash on a pad when I'm playing SF3, but have no problems with it on a stick. And don't even get me talking about FADCs, plinking and a lot of the stuff you do in SF4 that's borderline impossible to do on a pad.

So.. yeah, they're expensive. I still don't regret getting mine for a second. I've had so much fun with it. :3
