Works fine on all 36 of my blurays, same with the dvds too.

Maybe your dvds or ps2 had some regional differences?

it works as advertised, even if blue ray is as over rated as HD tv :p
Wow, have I gone back to 2006 ?

As for the PS3 being a good blu-ray player, well yes, it is. Thanks to being able to update a console and its firmware you can expect the PS3 to be a decent player for years to come.

My PS3 plays more Blu-Ray's than games these days lol.

I have never had any issues and the picture quality is excellent as far as I can see.

Considering that 100% of the PS3 games that i own are Blu-Ray discs, i would say that it does.

It's actually one of the better Bluray players out there, since a) It's made by Sony (who designed the Bluray); b) It gets frequent firmware updates, since it's well-supported; and c) it has plenty of processing power to manage the HD stream. This was a few years ago, but I remember loading Iron Man took my PS3 at most 10 seconds, while in a friend's player, it took closer to 30.

First gen PS3 and works as intended with great sound, picture, etc
Actually gifted my parents a slim PS3 so they can also watch Bluray discs, and they've never complained

Ps3 is suppose to play Bluray dvd ok?But that sounds like the same promise that ps2 will play normal dvd and thats bs,my ps2 never played even half the dvds i put into it.So tell me ps3 owners does it work without any proplems?
Back when my PS2 worked, it would play DVDs without any trouble. I would assume the same for the PS3 and Blu-ray. Though really, I dont think Sony would be that daft to... know what, never mind...

or ... maybe the visual qualit isn't so much better that its worth jerking the price up. if i have an HD TV and HDMI cables and i still can't see a difference, then guess what :D not worth the hype -.-

My PS2 had problems playing DVDs as well, but my PS3 has played every DVD/Blu-ray without a hitch.

Never had a problem with ps3 bluray or ps2 dvd. In fact dvds on my ps2 often played better then a dedicated dvd player. Often DVDs that I would rent from the video store or the library were scratched and had problems on a dvd player. They would often skip and freeze. On the ps2 there was never that issue.

yeah this guy has to be trolling, or just stupid, Kitsuna, if any thing, at least now adays, HD is UNDER rated, since a lot of manufacturers expect you to have something capable of it allready. It looks AMAZING. When I watched avatar on my 46 inch tv, it looked as though every thing was real life! I thought, well maybe that's just avatar, but no It worked for Toy Story 3 (still some how looked real life even though it was animated all the way through) AND the social network, and surprisingly its worked on some of the DVDs too!
