Go ahead. I do it all the time and noting happen. Though I make sure to keep it in a well ventilated area. or just out on the floor.

I wouldn't recommend it.
Especially if you have an older 360.
They supposedly have fixed the rrod problem with the new "Jasper" 360 but it can still happen if it gets too warm.

Both systems give off a lot of heat and need to be well ventilated. You'd be better off putting one of them on the floor than stacking them on top of each other.

You could grill sausages on the PS3 for the amount of heat that it gives off.

That's no way to make PS360, you should know. That Halo-Infamous crossover will have to stay in the real of fan fiction for now!

Alright, to answer your question, while I am aware that the PS3 Slim is filled with more electronic goodness than the Wii, stacking the Wii on top of my Xbox 360 hasn't had any adverse affects so far. Then again, I also don't leave them that way indefinitely and its one of those Decenmber 2008 units so it isn't prone to overheating.

It might be fine for the short term, but you might want to switch up which system you choose to use at a given time now and then rather than subject them to excessive heat emitted by both machines.

you could put something in between.

something soft not moving to catch the weight.
A strong cardboard or wooden box works well. One that has either 4 legs with a board on top (similar to a stool) or one that has three closed sides (puncture or cut out to let out heat). This gives you a "shelf" and keeps both consoles safe from harm.

Well, I doubt it'll do it any favours...
Just have them standing, or build an extra shelf or something. You wouldn't put a microwave on top of a laptop.

OR WOULD YOU?

No, because then you wouldn't ba able to open the laptop...

The best place to balance a ps3 is in the bin.

But in all truth, considering the heat that comes off the 360, don't have both on at the same time. I know the PS3 has problems in areas that are slightly warmish. There was a problem when they had a load together at a convention a few years back when they kept shutting down due to heat.
