Well, the 360 is the "casual" console of the two, it's also cheaper and I don't think you HAVE to have it connected to the internet which means you can dodge the fee for doing so and just enjoy your single-player games in peace.

My opinion tho, is that the PS3 exclusive games are better than the 360 exclusive games, so I'd pick the PS3. I'd have to have the PS3 controller that looks and acts just like a 360 controller cause the PS controllers are oh so horrible, but I'd most likely find the exclusive games worth the extra cost (and connecting it to the internet is free). Also, 360 games seem to be more commonly available for PC than PS3 games, so you'll have a wider spectrum of games opened to you than you would if you went for a 360.

Really depends on how much money you'd like to sink and if you'd like a permanent internet connection or not (or maybe you'd have no problem paying the fee for it).
Aren't they pretty much the same price anyway, cheapest against cheapest I mean 'cos you can always buy a hard drive for the PS3 to make it huge and has been likend to changing a UMD (not by me though).

As for the controllers, both are the same to me. There is no "getting used to" time, I can pick up either and feel comfy with it. Off set sticks don't bother me, the D pad doesn't bother me (it's almost never used anyway), the buttons, the triggers etc etc etc.

Other than that I would agree 100% with you.

Lol at all the 360 recommendations, makes it hard to believe anyone read his post. He owns a PC and doesn't plan on using the console for internet play. Which means he won't be paying for xbox live. Most xbox "exclusives" such as portal, mass effect, half life etc. are already available on the PC. And where the xbox shines is online, which is hardly a benefit if you're not paying for it.

PC/PS3 allows for a much larger range of games, and you're getting free internet on the PS3 so you have it as an option, but you don't feel pressured to use it if you pay for it or the other way around. Although PS2 would also be a good option, since it has a boatload of casual games and you can find almost all of them at ridiculous prices now.

I have both and I play my PS3 more. Although, just "from what I've heard" (meaning I can't back it up at all), the 360 is more along the lines of the console you want. PS3 does have a blu-ray player and free online multiplayer, so if you ever get the itch to, you can just hop in and not have to pay. Also, PS3 controllers don't require batteries or buying a charging station.
Still, the 360 has Gears of War and Halo.

I own both for their own qualities. I have an HDTV, and sci-fi Blu-Ray look amazing, and a fair few good games are certain console exclusive. I like both Metal Gear Solid 4, as well as Alan Wake. If you have the money, and nothing to really spend it on, get both, and then be better than anyone involved in a console war.
