Good day to you all. I have been saving money for a time and now i would like to use it on a new console, (i only have a Wii) but i don't really know what console i should buy. PS3 has good hardware, (that's what my buddies told me) but i really, REALLY like the Halo Series.(not that i think that you are stupid, but here's a link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halo_(series) link end) and i also know that most of the games are released for PS3 AND 360, (and soon, ((probably)) for Wii U, too) like Crysis 2, but is there a diffrence? I know that the PS network is free, and that XBLA costs, but is XBLA safer? PLEASE, share your thoughts and personal experience!

My opinion is biased. I only own an Xbox 360 so I can use Zune/Netflix, I never play games on it at all.

Overall its down to what you want out of your console, each will have its exclusive titles. So you have to weigh the titles they have in that regard.

Me, I don't care, I'm a PC Gamer but XBLA sure makes catching up on TV I like, without commercials, a lot easier.

I think the PS3 has better exclusives, but its more single player oriented. So it depends on what you want, but personally I think the 360 is rather redundant these days.

Look at the exclusives on both consoles and choose the one you think has better exclusives is you are on the fence on exclusives and want advice post the exclusives you think are good and we will give a PERSONAL(our opinion may differ from yours) yay or nay.

Well I have both and im not trying to start a war here but...

For the 360 I usually get all my games on it since I have had it longer then the PS3, I prefer the controls (they feel the same exept the trigger on the PS3), the 360 has a better online community BUT you have to pay to play games online, but its pretty cheap (Well like 80 dollers for a year of online)...also the menu is more organised.
Also its just XBL, XBLA is X-box live arcade...wait..is it, damn now im confused!
Also their are many exclusives on the 360
series such as Halo and Gears of War (Plus Fable, but thats on pc too)

The PS3 for me is usaully used for exclusives and blue ray dvds, the online is free (Thats good!), the community is good exept that the store and menu of the ps3 isnt that good it feels like I have to scrolls down miles to get to the network menu (Thanks Sony!, why isnt the network menu at the top of options!)...

PS3 has more exlusives.

In my mind both are equel but are easily beated by the PC.

I would say get a 360. Sony seem to be on thin ice right now and if you could wait to get one. Not saying you shouldn't get one. It just seem that the PS3 isn't doing so hot due to the lawsuits, hacks, and now their trying to put on a plan to make you pay for full use of a game that is used (For Reference just look it up here. I 98% it just for used game. The other 2% I believe the plan just wants to be annoying and be blasted to space dust. (Damn me playing to much of Kotor with HK-47))

I could be bias since I do own a 360. Though I don't have a problem with either console. It just what do you perfer. Single Player games (PS3) or multiplayer games (360). Though if you like halo so much get 360. Two new games are coming out with the name halo. One a remake of halo 1 and then there halo 4.

Yeah, pretty much what everyone has said so far. Look at the exclusives that both consoles have, decide which ones look like your kind of game, and make a decision based on that.

As for multi-platform games, I don't think there's enough of a difference to say one is better than the other.

Just take into factor:

Which controller do you like more?

Which console has the exclusives that interests you?

Do you want a Blu Ray player (PS3)?

Also, I'm an single-player type (and PC oriented), so I'm not sure about the networks of the systems. I don't know how Live differs from PSN so you might want to find out about that if you're looking for an multiplayer experience. Technically PS3 is more powerful than the 360 and the format (Blu Ray) has more memory space (so games like Mass Effect 2 are on only one disc) but I don't see that as much of a factor.

I wont even bother to repeat what others have said, better to listen them anyway.

Personally i don't have a bad thing to say about xbox 360, it hasn't yet broken down in 5 years of owning, and exclusives are great, for my taste at least (Gears of war and Halo series).

I Dont own PS3 but i quess that's good too, controller seems no-so-good-as-xbox as far as PS2 vs 360 controllers are concerned tho it's not the same as in 3.

They both have their good points, I'd say the Xbox is the better games machine, but the PS3 is a better all-round media machine.

Although the PS3 is getting better at games

I think multiplayer and exclusive titles are the deciding factor these days, because there is very little difference in performance. I have both, but really I play the PS3 exclusively these days. I think that the multiplayer is better on PS3, because the players tend to be a bit more mature, I've never felt like punching someone in a PS3 shooter yet - but on the 360 I get annoyed practically everytime I play. I like MAG and Killzone3 for multiplayer. In fact the only other online shooter I play is BattlefieldP4F - don't play the 360 very much at all these days.

The exclusives can be deceptive - you can't compare Halo to Killzone for instance, because only an idiot would say that Killzone is better than Halo. And Gran Turismo 5 absolutely sucks compared to Forza3. But Little Big Planet is great, there's nothing that compares to that on the 360.

One other factor might be peripheral and game pricing. I've found that decent PS3 games tend to cost less than their 360 counterparts. You can get 360 games for peanuts, but they tend to be crap. Peripherals like controllers and add ons tend to be cheaper on the PS3 as well - 360 controllers for instance have their price inflated to cover the wireless tech costs that M$ impose. So I would say you get more for your money with a PS3.

I would suggest getting both, get a PS3 first - then pick up a 360 second hand for £50 or so, just for the exclusives and better front end.

Well, i love the 360 controller, (it feels so good in my hands! xD) and the 360 has some good exclusives... and i don't really want a Blu Ray, i think Dvd quality is good enough. but, i got to ask, what do you think about Wii U?

It all depends on personal preferance really. I would say however that you shouldn't make your decision based on one exclusive or a series exclusive. Thats just asking for trouble. Compare all of the exclusives rather than "PS3 has infamous so i'll get that" or "Xbox has halo so i'll get that" Also if you have any siblings, don't let them pressure you into buying a specific one. It's your choice in the end so feel free to ignore what anyone says, including us.

Playstation has the better exclusives, plus it has the free online play. I assume you own a PC so you could just get Halo on that if you like it that much.

Just ignore the people who mention the PSN hack, Lulzsec could have just as easily infiltrated the X-Box live thingamajig if they had decided to.

I'm sorry but i really can not see a thread entitles Ps3 or 360 leading anywhere good. It's only a matter of time.

OT: Play both, you said you have friends who play the consoles, ask if you can try them, and see which is best for you

I'm also nuts for achievements! 360 has got most of those, right? but one question about that: what do you get for the points? example:
Acheivement unlocked
Penta Kill!
25 P.
what does the P stand for? what does it do?

I got both an Xbox 360 and a PS3, and in my opinion the PS3 is superior.
Better exclusives(and way, way more than the 360 as far as I can tell), better single player games, much smoother interface and ofc... it doesnt sound like an airplane when it's turned on.

The 360 does however have a better controller for shooting games. The PS3 games often try to mimick the triggers by putting the shoot buttons on R2/L2 and after a while at least I get cramp in my hands from that. Some games are kind enough to let us use R1/L1 though.

A year ago I would have said Sony because Sony is starting to hit their stride.

After all the shenanigans Sony has pulled this year, I can not in clear conscious recommend Sony to anyone.

Plus, I do recommend the 360 controller because its the best controler since the Snes, and it doubles as a PC controller.
