Which should I buy this coming month? I've got enough extra cash to get one but not both(About 100 bucks short for both.) So, PS3 which has a robust library(Including the lovely Kingdom Hearts 1.5) or the WiiU which has the always entertaining Windwaker Bundle.(I'm a die hard Zelda fan. I'm buying a 3ds 2 weeks after buying my first (An XL) from a pawnshop because it's the Legend of Zelda one for a mere 123.99 simply to put it away and never, ever, play it. Because of reasons. Anyway. Which is better to go after PS3 or WiiU? I'll be getting both sooner or later. It's just a matter of time.

With the release of the full next-gen(as in all three makers are out) on the arisen I would go with the one that will have longer support which is the Wii-U. Nintendo finally got their act together and is releasing a steady stream of games all the way into next year. It's 3rd party is something to be desired but it is getting enough of the big hitters.

OT: Depends whether you want to play Sony or Nintendo games more. The Wii U is backwards compatible, so you can also play the dozens of great games that you likely missed out on first time round. But PS3 gets you games like TLOU and Puppeteer. So really it just comes down to whether you'd rather play Sin And Punishment 2, W101 and Pikmin 3 or Uncharted, MGS4 and Little BigPlanet.
PS3 is also compatible with all PS1 games, and if you have the older model PS2. Plus it has it do that you can upgrade the internal HDD to an SDD or higher GB hard drive which is nice.

OT: Really the PS3 is a good choice because it's cheaper and has a very extensive library. Not to mention that even when the PS4 comes out there will still be support for the PS3 for a couple of years. Online is free, and purchases from PSN can be transferred to other PS3s or Sony devices that support it. (Vita/PSP).
I'm not saying the Wii U is bad, it just doesn't really have a strong library right now, while the PS3 does, and it had some nice exclusives as well. Really just get the PS3 now, then get a Wii U later because just like all consoles it will be cheaper and have more games in the future.

If it's a matter of time before you get both, then I recommend getting the PS3 first.

It already has a large established library. On top of that, with the older console you can get games a lot more cheaply (e.g. I got Ninja Gaiden Sigma and Max Payne 3 for £5 each).

The Wii U is still in its infancy, and for now its library is very very limited compared to that of the already established PS3.

How dare you forget some of the other lovely titles that actually graced the Wii the second half of it's life span.
Those games are:

You're lucky Jeffers because this game was actually localized for your region! T^T

You got this one too dammit! All we got was Unlimited Adventure! >.<

Please note Jeffers, that if you were to ever get copies of Unlimited Cruise 1 and 2, the UK versions that are in English for text, I will pay you so much money for you to import them to me! >.<
Mainly because doing the translations in LPs takes too long, and I am a lazy bastard at times if nothing else.

Depends what systems you already have, if you have a gaming PC / 360 then it's just a matter of.

PS3, Story Based exclusives like The Last of Us & a few JRPGs
WiiU, Platinum Games & Nintendo IPs + Wii Back Catalogue.

Don't forget the Ratchet and Clank Future series as that was a very good series actually. Then you've also got the Disgaea series if you like SRPGs.
Plus, this is a big one, no region coding so you can import games that were never localized in your country and play them just fine. Something that if Nintendo were to get rid of I'd honestly find them possibly becoming my more primary console. >.>

(Yes I will harp on the region locking shit whenever I can because it's BS! >.<)

I'd say the PS3. It had great third party support for last gen, some pretty awesome exlcusive games(inFamous, Resistance, Ratchet and Clank, The Last of Us, the Tales games are pretty good, and Thatgamecompany made some awesome games for it as well, and there are plenty more as well), the online is about in the middle for how well done it is for all the consoles, and it's cheaper.

I don't doubt that the WiiU will at some point get plenty of good games. But that's just it. I don't trust it to get plenty of amazing games. Nintendo rarely puts out a bad game themselves, which is something nice, it means you really can't go wrong with it, but you're not about to get the wide range of types of games that can be offered on a system by comparison.

It's not easy coming up with an easy recommendation. On one hand, I have a PS3 and have gotten a decent amount of enjoyment from it. Much more than I did from my Wii. On the other, the PS3 is nearing the end of its life. Although, then again, you might argue that there's no better time to get one, now that the system and its games are all rather cheap.

So I suppose it all comes down to:

If you're getting a 3DS soon, that might suffice to give you your Nintendo fix. So perhaps the PS3 then?

If it were me, PS3. It's a good console with an excellent library of games. Many of the titles people listed as good games for Nintendo were just not for me or I have no interest in playing them. There's some stuff I loved on the Wii, but not enough to make me want a Wii U. I love the variety of games available for the PS3.

If your only reason is to get HD upgrade of 10 year old zelda game, surely you can wait bit more until WiiU's library expands.

I'd say get a PS3 first.

The PS3 has an extensive library full of great games, exclusive or otherwise. The console's nearing the end of its lifespan, and many of the must-haves in its backlog are going for cheap. If you land a Phat model, you get full access to the PS1 and PS2 libraries as well. If not, the PSOne Classics and various HD Collections will get you up to speed with a lot of the greats.

The WiiU, well... time will tell. You'll get the staple Nintendo games, though I honestly don't think any of them are worth buying a console for (especially with Smash Bros being released for 3DS now).

Bottom line: Buying a PS3 is a solid decision. Buying a WiiU is a gamble.

So it really comes down to one question: Do you feel lucky, OP? [http://youtu.be/8Xjr2hnOHiM?t=1m47s]

Eh, I would go with the WiiU. It is going to have support for much, much longer time, and Nintendo is going to release a new Zelda game eventually (there have also been rumblings that the best Zelda ever, Majora's Mask, might get a remake soon :O). The PS3 is nice, but the WiiU is technically a next gen console, which means plenty in terms of games.

I bought myself a PS3 not very long ago, so obviously I'm going to recommend it. I like the library, the exclusives, the free online, awesome cheap games that are only going to get cheaper...
