The only experience I have owning either is with a Playstation 1 and an original XBox. But after watching the Microsoft E3 press conference, and watching the magic of Project Natal in action, I'm thinking about finally getting a 360.
Look kid, at least wait until after E3 to make this decision. Also take into account how much money you have. Here's my two cents: Like an online community? Get a 360. Have a lot of media and don't want to pay to play? Get a PS3.Thingo said:
It depends on the kinds of games you enjoy. I'm a big fan of co-op gaming so I get a lot more use out of my 360 and LIVE than I do out of my PS3. Online:
Personally, I prefer the X360's Party system to anything else that I have used to date (especially the wii's friend system *shudder*). So Xbox wins on the online front in my opinion.
Games:
Here you have a great choice on both sides. Most games come out for both platforms, so your decision really comes down to the exclusives. There are great ones of these for both platforms too, ie: Resistance/Resistance2 for PS3 or Fable2/Halo3 on the Xbox; and also if you can afford to fork over the extra cash for the PS3's games.
Controller:
It has been shown many times in various polls etc. that the X360 controller is the favourite here. I found it really easy to just pick up and start playing, where the PS3 controller made me think every time I used it.
Looks:
The sleek, black, glossy finish; the slot loading disk drive; the touch-sensitive power/eject buttons have all won me over for the PS3 in this category, but the range of different colours are a plus on the X360's side.
Media
Both have great media capabilities, with BluRay in the PS3 being a fantastic addition to any HD household (as I like to call them). Of course, without a big screen to watch movies on, this could be made quite redundant.
Overall:
I prefer the Xbox, just because it's so easy to pick up a game and start playing online with your friends, and I love the party system. So the online play wins it for the Xbox in my opinion. As I have said, I don't own a PS3 so my experience in the Online is limited, but I feel that I have the gist. But my opinion shouldn't matter, it's your personal choice.

There's no visible graphical difference between them. The only good games are the ones that are multiplatform in my opinion, except for Uncharted for the PS3. There are a few minimal differences but not enough to say ones better than the other. So I would go with the console that most of your friends have.
In my opinion, it depends largely on your favorite genres. So far, 360 seems to be superior for JRPGs. They seem fairly balanced in terms of fanboy counts for FPS/TPS games. The 360 also seems to have better support for DLC. However, I'm sure that there are other areas that the PS3 is better at (I've never looked into it much, so I'm not too sure what they might be).
Personally, I went with the Xbox 360, mainly because (a) I'm cheap, and (b) I'm a WHORE for JRPGs.

Depends on whether or not you're going to use your computer or your future console as primary gaming station: if PC, then definently Xbox 360 (since it's cheaper). If console, then it gets a bit tricky.
See which one YOU think has interesting exclusives and take into consideration whether or not you want to pay for online (if not, then PS3).
