My friend wants to move up in the world of technology.
But he has a dilemma.
He doesn't know wheather to buy a ps3 or an xbox
I want your opinion on which one he should buy!

He formely had a ps2 but never really played it.
I have a ps3 and we play it together alot but he does play xbox with some of my other friends.
He's not really pushed on which console to get but would like to get value for money out of what he gets and the best gaming experience.
He likes games like gta and fifa. Mostly sports with the odd shooting game thrown in (gta).
He wants to play online so which console would you recommend for that also?
If you want more info on this topic just ask!

Give us some information about your friend, and we might be able to help, rather than turning this into a 'rofl this system rulz' thread.

Personally I would go for the 360, on the sole basis that imo there are more great games to play on it.
Also, it is still a fair bit cheaper saving your friend a bit more cash to purchase said great games.

On the other hand, if your friend likes watching films and wants a Blu-ray player along with a gaming console then the PS3 is the obvious choice, especially now the slim version is out with a lower price tag.

What is he moving up from? what games does he like? does he like internet multiplayer? Is he eyeing any exclusive games? You're not going to get an informed opinion unless you tell us a bit more.

You're just asking for a flame war aren't you...

But, I'd say just give him a list of exclusives for each system and see which one he likes better.

[small/]the 360's might be a little short though...[/small]

..Considering I just took apart an old 360 and fixed it, sparing me $200+ of buying a new one, get a 360. It'll save you more money if you don't mind putting a little work into them when they brake.

I own both systems. By Xbox crashes all the goddamn time, why, even today it crashed 12 times in 15 minutes. It can't handle Guitar Hero 5 because, quote "Game disk is dirty or scratched". I BOUGHT IT 20 MINUTES AGO.

My Ps3 never dies. Ever.
Also it was cheaper in the long run, because right now you can get PS3's for 300 dollars, which includes a free membership and wireless internet access, making it far cheaper than the xbox 360

Well if he is a PC gamer I would suggest going for the PS3 (as many of the 360 exclusives are available on the PC and both roughly cater to the same titles). However, if he really likes a steady stream of games and a decent controller then I'd say, he should go after a 360.

It also depends on the type of games he plays and if he is into online play as well. In which case he should get a console that he can connect to his friends network.

Well, Online is where 360 shines. PS3 has some good experiences with the few good games it has, and also has PSN, but I dunno bout it. Also the price drop helps make it affordable. 360's like 100 bucks cheaper then PS3, but it depends on what he wants. I'd get both if I could. PS3 for like GTA4 and Maiden and stuff, and 360 for online games like CoD or Gears n stuff.

I only own a PS3 and actually haven't played a 360 before, but if your friend is after internet, sports, and shooters, that sounds more like a 360 thing. Iunno, I could be wrong and just totally unaware of awesome PS3 sports/shooter titles. But I've definitely heard that Xbox Live is pretty good.

But should the xbox brake?
All I hear is that it brakes down.
Fixing it is fine if you know how to but not everyone does!

Fanboys who will get pissed off at each other and just fill up this thread with how they think 360's better or how PS3's better.

This usually ends up in the thread getting locked or people getting put on probation or suspended because they get all pissy over anyone who doesn't [b/]love[/b] their system.
