I only own a PS3 and actually haven't played a 360 before, but if your friend is after internet, sports, and shooters, that sounds more like a 360 thing. Iunno, I could be wrong and just totally unaware of awesome PS3 sports/shooter titles. But I've definitely heard that Xbox Live is pretty good.

But don't you have to pay for online gaming on the xbox?

i think the most undebateable factor is how much he is willing to pay for internet. If you're willing to pay extra, go Xbox. If not, go PS3. I heard that Xbox Live is better than the Playstation Network, but I've never heard a real reaon why. But you can't complain about the PSN since, well, c'mon! It's free!

I think the ps3 is better. But thats my opinion. I'm not gonna argue with some because they say the xbox is better.

..Considering I just took apart an old 360 and fixed it, sparing me $200+ of buying a new one, get a 360. It'll save you more money if you don't mind putting a little work into them when they brake.

But should the xbox brake?

There are very deatiled videos and instructions on how to fix a problem with your xbox. Just google it =p

Yes it brakes, alot. And you can send it in to microsoft for $100 to fix it for 3 weeks, or you can do it yourself for free in a half an hour =p

After thinking about it for about 15 minutes... I would recommenced an Xbox 360.

You would more than likely be satisfied with the games and online experience it offers. Yes I know most of them are on PC and that online play costs but the latest ones aren't there and Xbox Live is worth it for the money.

Also It really depends on how much you look after it though... Sure you here all these comments that their Xbox breaks itself but seriously I've had mine for three years and it's only RROD'd once... within the warranty.

It really depends on the games, see if any of the platform-exclusives appeal to him or if he wants Live or not.
I'd go for a 360 personally, PS3 is a great console, but none of the exclusives (except Killzone 2 and God of War 3) really appeal to me.

I never really have any problems with PSN, it works just as well for me.
