A few weeks ago I ordered a PS3 online, it arrived today (much to my joy). However, I had been planning on using it on my HDMI port on my 24" LCD moniter, however I am unable to get the signal to go through. I've quickly tried google and have found a whole lot of other largely irrelivent information. Anybody with any experience who's willing to share their wisdom will be rewarded with a cyber cookie ^_^

Well I think all you really need to do is turn your power off, turn it back on, hold the switch for 5 or 6 seconds and it'll automatically optimize your settings to HDMI

I have tried manually (using the low res tv in my room) switching to HDMI, but I can't get any reception, thanks for the tip though, I'll be sure to try it and post back once my sister gets off it :)

It has to be plugged into the higher rez set for it to switch over.

Doesn't seem to be doing it. I unplugged the DVI cables completely and tried holding the power button until the second beep as described in your link, but my 24' remains blue. I'm tempted to try on my 19' as it might just be a case of the 24' not liking it. If not I'm sure there will be something in your link that will help. Thanks for jumping on to help me out so quickly :)

On a sidenote, use ["link"]["/link"] when linking to sites outside of the escapist, it doesn't like going anywhere when you use "URL".

Ah that was my fault, sorry about that.

What I think I also managed to do was plug in both my HDMI and my component cables (Red white yellow, those are component cables right?) in at the same time, boot up with my components and then manually switch the settings over to HDMI

Firstly, welcome to the escapist, hope you enjoy your stay here :)

Secondly, yes I have. I wouldn't really consider it a dumb question because in my experience, when something doesn't work how I expect it to, it's because I've missed something trivial like that. Thanks for the responce :)
