I have both ME/ME2 on PC so I don't know if my vote counts, but I think it's one of the best playstation games there is.

Have you tried Insanity difficulty?

You'll want to punch the guy who came up with them.
I'm inclined to partially agree, on lower difficulties these things were a fucking nightmare, but that's when I had no idea how to play the bloody game, once insanity forced me to learn how to play they were the easiest unit for me (hint: I was a vanguard).

Whoever came up with the first fight on the abandoned collector vessel fully deserves to rot in hell, I had nightmares about that fight scene (it was a lot easier when played with a fresh insanity character instead of a level 30 import).

I never played ME1, so I'm a bit lost as far as the story goes. However, it seems to be just jumping from place to place without any real meaning. For one, why the hell would Shepard insist on assembling his old team, when he could have had the best of the the best Cerberus had to offer. Another thing I've noticed is that the graphics are butt ugly. I know consoles are pathetically weak, but when the ground texture looks like bloody Minecraft in the level on that planet where you drive the shuttle around (also, why the hell can't the damn thing fly? Do I really have to play Frogger here?), the name of which I forgot, you know the designer sucked. It's the one with the geth/human hybrid AI.
Anyway, I can't say it's bad, but it definitely isn't the Jeebus of gaming either. It's good, fun, has an interesting universe, and so forth, but it ain't in my top 10 games.

Well I played ME1 and like half of ME2 a while back. I really vastly prefer ME2 to ME1, but that might just be because I'm not much of a super-RPG person, and the vehicle sections were damn annoying.

That said, it's by no means perfect, and playing it again at a more leisurely pace, I'm finding myself with a lot of suggestions I'd make for the next Mass Effect. But it's still good enough to make a solid top 5 games of last year (or this year, depending on what you're going by.)

I didnt have any problem with them in insanity but thats mostly because I was playing an infiltrator and the widow makes short work of them, really any sniper rifle fucks them up good

Played the demo. It was kind of fun I guess.
...

I supposed its cheating if I answer, isn't it?

Demo is just to show off gameplay mechanics.

You need to get into the meat of the story. Finding your team through dossiers sent by the illusive man, then building their trust.

That's the strength of mass effect 2.

I like Jack... and I have it on the 360. So apart from saying that I like Jack, I had no real reason to answer... so uh, how 'bout that weather?

Played it on the PC when it came out, but:

People find Jack annoying? YOU'RE ALL WANKING OVER BLOODY TALI AND YOU FIND JACK ANNOYING?!

This is madness!
Shes not annoying, but shes not sexy. I found tali interesting because of the enviro suit, and miranda is boring.

OT: Its really good. The comic that set up the game was fun, and i feel that it is probably my generations equivalent of star wars =p.

I know. I beat it multiple times on the 360 and PC :p

I have only played the 360 versions and I want to know, if anything, they did to let the PS3 players to have choices from the first game happen in the second. There were some decisions you make in the first game that not only affect the second but, appear to affect the third game.

Wrex not dying and then uniting the clans.
Letting the Rachni Queen go and heavily hinted at that they will help in the third game.
Saving the Council.

1. Plot holes
Why am I working with people Shepard exposed as terrorists in the first game?
TIM explains that Cerberus essentially works in cells. Each cell is given a task, resources, and told to get results. Since he doesn't tell them how to go about it he can't be held responsible for the actions of a few people. That and I think it was talked about how being inside of Cerberus would let you gather information on the organization. The second game also has a whole "Ends justify the means" theme to it.

The_Zoomer_Knight said:
Furthermore, after no less than three betrayals, why the hell would Shepard still work for the Illusive Man?
I don't remember three betrayals. I remember TIM manipulating a great deal though.

The_Zoomer_Knight said:
Why is the council suddenly forgetting about the Reaper that attacked at the climax of ME1?
They tell you that they believe it was just a big geth ship. A one time event and they think the whole Reaper thing was Saren making up a stories either through being insane or to manipulate others. It is also easier for them to go with this answer.

The_Zoomer_Knight said:
Why does Shepard just go into a derelict Reaper?
If I remember correctly it was to check on the research team and to get the FOF device to activate the Omega Relay and not die.

The_Zoomer_Knight said:
Wouldn't reporting it the the council as non-blown up proof of the Reaper's existence be a bit better than blowing this one up too?
Answered previously, and I think time was an issue.

The_Zoomer_Knight said:
Why are the Geth suddenly a neutral faction? It just makes the Quarians look like complete morons.
They were always a neutral faction. The geth you fought in the first game were essentially zealots. It kind of is the point that the quarians look bad for what they did. If you talked to some of the quarians, I think Tali specifically, they explained that they attacked first because they thought that is what the geth were going to do. They had a whole race enslaved and doing the most dangerous work.

I'm enjoying it thoroughly but I do feel the simplified leveling & inventory went a bit too far. Also, how about some objective stats for my weapons, don't just tell me "it's accurate".

Jack is a ***** but she doesn't annoy me nearly as much as Liara. Miranda's less of a ***** but a huge tease, Tali's only occasionally a *****. Gotta say my favorite Shep-ette is Samara; she's only a ***** about principles that she's willing to die for & I respect that.

Mass Effect 2 has made it onto my 'favorite things' list, right next to the Animorph book series, Redwall, FF7, and Brave Fencer Musashi. I knew a little about the first one and knew that many people loved it, so I gave it a try. My gaming experience is as follows... I /spoiler/ed it just in case someone hasn't played it yet...

I was immediately thrust into a fantastic, space-age world where dull moments were few and far between. I helped my comrade find and condemn his father for his actions, I kicked *** with the krogan Grunt during his rite of passage, fell in love with that sexy quarian and saved her from exile, grew a huge dislike for my second in command, shared some real-life laughs with the pilot, and made difficult moral decisions. Good lord, I loved this game. The only time I was bored was during the planet probing sequences... And luckily new game + gave us a ton of those resources so we could put it off restocking for a while...

The moral choices were amazing! Both the 'good' and 'bad' side had feasible options for picking them, and I usually had to stop and think about them. Project Overlord's moral choice was one of the most difficult...

The only two things I dislike about this game... The loading times and the relative lack of character development. Don't get me wrong; I grew very attached to the assassin and the master thief and the rest of the crew, but I was informed that there was much, much more in the first game. The first game's loading times were filled by character conversations so we could learn more about the ones we were fighting with? That's awesome. I can see why they wouldn't include MORE in the second game since we knew so much. But still...

I was also told that the gameplay is 100% better in ME2, but the story is 100% better in ME1. Dang it. I loved the story to ME2. How much better could the first one be?

Well... I guess I'll never be able to experience it firsthand since I'll never own an Xbox. Sigh...

I'm really curious to know how the PS3 guys are getting on with ME2.

It was my favorite game of last year and my current pick for best game of the current gen, even though I am aware it is very divisive amongst the XBOX community due to stripping back some of the RPG elements from ME1.

Having not had ME1 to compare it to, arriving with fresh and open minds, how are you finding it? Is it as good as we 360 owners hyped it up to be?

Is learning the vast amount of politics and culture in the ME universe daunting, fascinating or both?

And do you guys find Jack as annoying as I do?
Hey, does my opinion count? Having played so very many times on 360.......?

If you want my honest opinion on how it runs - buggy as hell, lots of annoying glitches (some Kasumi dialogue is 'off', for one thing) Sound dips, HH getting brutally stuck in the environment, lots of bad lighting (on Horizon when you meet Kaidan/Ash for example) BUT BioWare are working on a patch (it may done, I think, awaiting Sony's approval) and it is still a great game - not the experience that it could be to do with a 15 minute catch up that, for example doesn't even mention the Geth.......... And Liara and Ash are all 'pouty', the comic which is OOC for both of them (I could wax lyrical about the comic and not in a good way)

The very best thing about it is being able to have a single Shep to try the ME2 romances without being a dirty cheater ;-)
I still prefer the story of ME to ME2 but enjoy the battle engine more in 2 whilst mourning the more in depth skill tree. And I still prefer playing it on the 360 EVEN with the disc change. Maybe that is habit though.... I think if you don't know ME then the missing stuff won't be mourned anyway.
It certainly doesn't look that much different objectively and I set up ME2 on my 360 and PS3 at the same point in the game and flicked between AV channels, four of us sat there looking at it. Character creation is easier/prettier/better on PS3 but the faces are the same (checked this by using one face code on both consoles) I will buy ME3 on 360 and on PS3 though :)

That is the main reason I'm still stuck in the collector ship because they keep killing me and my crew off and I haven't gone back since.
Yeah that part sucks, it's pretty unfair. But the good news is once you're past it the game gets easier, there are no more spikes as hard as it.

Not buying it until I've played Mass Effect 1 somehow.
I picked it up for the computer for about $10. It is easy to find, just hit EA's online store or Steam.
not everyone has a computer that can run games of that quality. hate to break it to you.

anyways, Mass Effect 2 still has the comic in the beginning that will tell you the story of the first and allow you to make a LOT of decisions, but just go over to a friends house who has a 360 and play it if you want to THAT bad.

I bought Mass Effect 2 for ps3 a few weeks back, started the first playthrough on Insanity (lol),and just finished Horizon.

ME2 on Ps3 run pretty fine, but suffer some framerate issues, and there are Visual glitches here and there.

Sadly,Bioware's still treating this version as a "2 discs" game,in short:you can't bring Legion to Tali recruitment mission, you can't bring Tali to Garrus recruitment mission etc.

Compare to the Xbox360 version, this version is more....economical...(don't have to swap disc, most DLCs are available on disc)if someone haven't play Mass effect 2 yet then PS3 version is an attractive choice, unless you have a gaming PC.
